[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1895202] Re: touchpad suddenly not detected, appearing as PS/2 mouse in devices
This problem persists with Ubuntu 20.10 released today. The modprobe/rmmod/modprobe method above still works there, however it is very inconvenient to have to perform those steps after each reboot. Unfortunate, as Ubuntu has been the distro that I've used and recommended to others for the last four years based on "it just works". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1895202 Title: touchpad suddenly not detected, appearing as PS/2 mouse in devices Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I can't even recall making any upgrades. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1895202] Re: touchpad suddenly not detected, appearing as PS/2 mouse in devices
Same issue. Lenovo Thinkpad X1. Looks like it started with kernel version 5.4.0-45 and remains in 5.4.0-47. With 5.4.0-42 trackpad is listed as ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad in xinput, with 5.4.0-45 and 5.4.0-47 it shows as ↳ Synaptics TM3418-002 according to Xorg.0.log same driver is loaded in 5.4.0-{42,45,47} LoadModule: "synaptics" (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so but neither the touchpad, the touchpad buttons, nor the trackpoint work. But "synclient" sees the trackpad and prints out all the properties.
