[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1905446] Re: Touchpad not working in Ubuntu on Acer Aspire E3-112
Hello Murat, The BIOS is the same no matter what your OS is. For your touchpad issue, can you try this latest mainline kernel out? https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.11.1/ Instructions can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds And attach dmesg output along with your test result (with command "dmesg" in a terminal window, CTRL+ALT+T) For your camera issue, please open a new bug with "ubuntu-bug linux", it's easier to track different issues in their own bug report. Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1905446] Re: Touchpad not working in Ubuntu on Acer Aspire E3-112
Hello Lin, Thank you very much for your answer! I tried to follow your instructions: -The fn + F7 doesn't change anything in the mousepad, but renders the keyboard dull, i.e. I can't write anything until rebooting after I press that combination. -If I press fn + F7 on boot, the same thing happens when the computer is opened. -I tried to access the BIOS on ubuntu (with my limited knowledge, I thought it must be different from windows, still don't know if it's true or nay), and failed. -Choose the advanced settings whilst the opening computer asks me to choose between ubuntu or windows, and found nothing interesting there. So all in all, I failed to enable it. Also, a couple of days ago I realized my PC camera also isn't working :) Don't know how can I pass these obstacles. Again, thank you for your time! Oops, please ignore comment #3 for now. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1905446] Re: Touchpad not working in Ubuntu on Acer Aspire E3-112
Hello, can you check the following for us: 1. Boot to desktop, check if the Touchpad can be enabled with hotkey Fn + F7 2. Try to change Touchpad setting in your BIOS (if applicable), test it with Touchpad set to "Basic" instead of "Advanced", see if this helps. 3. If not, keep it in Basic mode and try to add i8042.nopnp the following steps: Edit your grub file /etc/default/grub with: sudo nano /etc/default/grub And add the "i8042.nopnp" option in the following line, to change it from: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" into something like: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.nopnp quiet splash" Save the file and exit, then execute: sudo update-grub Please attach the dmesg output (sudo dmesg > dmesg.log) after reboot with this option added to your grub.
