[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2017413] Re: Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320 touchpad is not recognized

2023-11-04 Thread Andrea Stedile
lsb_release -rd
No LSB modules are available.
Description:Ubuntu 23.10
Release:23.10

uname -r
6.1.0-1025-oem

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version
2.5.0

Touchpad firmware: 2023.06.05.519, A03
https://www.dell.com/support/home/it-it/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=twdxv=ubt22=xps-13-9320-laptop

Update-ath8124_tributo-82023-06-05-519-RDP2-E1

When I resume the computer after it suspended, the touchpad is not anymore
functional: I can move the pointer a round, but I can't click.
The touchpad sometimes becomes functional by itself by waiting for some time.
If I reboot the computer, the touchpad is always functional.

Title:
Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320 touchpad is not recognized

Status in linux-signed-hwe-5.19 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
  Release: 22.04

  uname -r
  5.19.0-40-generic

The touchpad (VEN_04F3:00 04F3:31D1) stops working intermittently when
resumed from hibernate or after a reboot. In most cases, it seems that
the kernel fails to recognize it. Issue also appears with older
kernels all the way up to v5.15.

During boot, the following error appears:
  i2c_hid_acpi i2c-VEN_04F3:00 failed to reset device: -61

Dell touchpad firmware has been updated to the latest version 2023.04.03.423,
A02 (as of 23-04-2023, issue still persists):

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=yd0v6=ubt22=xps-13-9320-laptop

issue still persists):

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=mh38g=ubt22=xps-13-9320-laptop

Switching from Wayland to X11 also has no effect. Also adding the following
to grub does not help:
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.enable_psr=0 i8042.nopnp=1
pci=nocrs"

Device info has been added as an attachment.
