Re: [kicad-users] Japina.eu OS X build issues
Hello Ryan, I've compiled the ppc port of Kicad and for some reason it only works on ibook. I am now in process of writing a script for kicad compilation on Mac OSX or maybe I should look into processor selection. For now I don't have an answer why this happens on other platforms. When I execute kicad from bash (./kicad), the project manager window opens in the background, apparently functional, but I am unable to manipulate any of the controls or drag/resize/etc the window. The same issue occurs when I launch kicad by doubleclicking the 'kicad' file in Finder. I am using the Japina.eu PPC binary (linked from the main page on 4/29/07, http:// www.japina.eu/podatki/kicad-2007-01-15-ppc.tar.bz2) on a G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.9 with Developer Tools installed. Any ideas why I have a running (but apparently non-responsive) kicad install? Best, Ryan --- mag./M.Sc. Re: [kicad-users] Re: What Linux platform and x-window manager?
I recently upgraded to Feisty which is the development build of Ubuntu and its still solid as a rock, what I love is the simplisity that aptitude gives you (guess its the same on Debian too - but never used it). sudo apt-get install kicad {type privelleged user password} all done for you, want to change windows manager or upgrade, you can do it all with aptitude. Infact i'm so happy with Ubuntu that i've just upgraded the work e-mail server to run it and ditched exchange, of course im using Edgy and not Feisty as its more of a pain if something ever did go wrong than my workstation needing a reset. Ubuntu would be my second choice, and is probably just as good. I haven't used it as much, and the little I have it looks good. I've run Debian Unstable for about 8 years or so now. It's *far* from unstable as the name would suggest, and has a better selection of up-to-date packages than anything else I've seen. The Kicad packages are not the latest version unfortunately, but they probably will be soon. You can easily use any window manager or desktop and switch back and forth. [kicad-users] would someone have a S-100 board layout available in Kicad ?
I was hoping someone might have a S-100 board layout available for Kicad. This is an old style circuit card used in many of the old computers from the 70's. Such as Altair, Imsai, Cromemco, etc If there's some other format available I hope it can be converted to Kicad still thanks, =Dan -- [ My Corner of Cyberspace http://ragooman.home.comcast.net/ ]
