Thank for sending me your example, I understand now why this work for you ans not for me. I used the "File->Print" menu and you used the "File->Plot" menu. The print function is broken under Linux, but we can use the plot function as well and save the file in the postscript format, open the file with a default ps viewer and send it to a printer, this works fine. Bernd, I use an out of the box Ubuntu 9.10 and I have it installed automatically. As you note, the ps2pdf is a part of the ghostscript package. Both SuSE and Ubuntu have the package as well as my Asus laptop and eeePC laptop. I would say it's unusual to NOT have this available unless you run a really exotic distro...
