I retested this with 4.8.1 and it works as expected.

To check if the issue is also fixed a minimal ofx file containing two or more
transactions is required. 
Unfortunally there are several variants to create such an ofx file and it may
not trigger the issue, if it is still present.

This is the system wide setting by calling a systemsettings module

This is the application specific setting (which is what I'm using all the time
and why I initial assumed you are refering to) 

Currently kmymoney 4.8.1 does not support starting the system wide language
settings.

Fix 'missing assignment' error after changing invest transaction to reinvest

The problem was caused by the fact that assetAccountSplit was not disabled
from the previous activity type.
