Re: [Koha] About Koha Server Information Zebra version line blank with error message

2013-08-28 Thread Victor Pang
Thanks Chris. I have not tested it yet but I think my problem is that the
PATH environment variable for my Apache HTTP server most probably didn't
include the path /opt/local/bin.

Re: [Koha] sh: mysql: command not found

2013-08-28 Thread Victor Pang
I had encountered the same problem with OS X Server 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion)
and the symlink fixed the problem. I just want to check if the path to mysql
is hard-coded to /usr/bin/mysql, uses the result of which mysql command
or simply whatever paths are set in the PATH environment variable? From
here, I can then deduce a working solution besides symlinking.

[Koha] Undo Import woes

2013-08-28 Thread Katherine Eastman
So, here's the scoop:
I exported only the bib records for a range of entries in my catalog so I
could change their encoding to UTF-8 and fix my diacritics (they were
showing up as a square with a question mark in the middle). I set the
matching rules to biblionumber and to replace if there was a match. The
matches were all made, but rather than replace the records, they duplicated
without items (which I told koha not to export item data and not to process
item data, so I'm not terribly upset about that other than the fact that
they didn't replace the existing records like I thought they would).

My problem is, now when I try to undo the import into the catalog in
KohaToolsManage Staged MARCRecordsBatch# -- it stalls at 0%. The .mrc
file contains 1947 records, but I've been routinely importing and
unimporting files with 5000 or so, so I don't think it's filesize.

Is there something obvious I'm missing? Could it have something to do with
not having cleaned out my reservoir? Please help!

Here's the crunchy bits of our koha installation:

Koha
version:3.12.03.000
MySQL version:mysql Ver 14.14
Distrib 5.1.66, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 6.1Apache
version:Server version: Apache/2.2.16 (Debian)Zebra version:Zebra 2.0.44

[Koha] Enhanced messages

2013-08-28 Thread Olugbenga Adara

Hello all,

Is it possible to have all Koha patrons get messages like checkin, checkout etc
without setting the
EnhancedMessagingPreferences to Allow? I had assumed that this was not
necessary but Koha was not sending messages until I turned this on and enabled
it for the patron.

If the EnhancedMessagingPreferences must be set, is there any way to auto
enable the messaging options for all patrons who are already on the system as a
default?

I am running 3.12.3 on Debian 7

Thanks

Re: [Koha] (no subject)

2013-08-28 Thread Manos PETRIDIS
This has to do with DNS I believe.

What DNS does is provide a way for host names (as kohaOPAC.mylibrary.edu
for example) to be translated to IP addresses (as 123.124.125.126). This
translation may be needed by either the workstation of the user trying to
access the koha system, or the system itself when it tries to access various
components (as the MySQL server for example).

If there is a namespace available (mylibrary.edu in our example), and
provisions have been made for it to accommodate a koha installation
(provision for the Fully Qualified Domain+Host names
kohaOPAC.mylibrary.edu and kohaADMIN.mylibrary.edu for example), and the
koha server has been configured accordingly, then no DNS host file tweaking
is necessary.

The hosts file was the pre-DNS way of associating host names with IP
addresses, and is still used for compatibility reasons and those of
exception handling. Looking-up the hosts file is faster and usually precedes
making a query to one or more DNS servers. Therefore tweaking the host
file means add the necessary entries if needed, to a certain file named
hosts, so that the host names that the installer person selected/entered
previously during the installation procedures, do indeed point to a valid
host, either as a result of a DNS query or a hosts file look-up.

kind regards,
Manos PETRIDIS

NB: a hosts file may still be used nevertheless, even when DNS works fine,
just to attain some slight performance increase when accessing specific
hosts. It would be a poor practice however, as it could lead to difficult to
trace problems when something needs to be changed in the configuration and
no proper documentation exists/is consulted.

 Hello,
our patrons very often want to check if selected books they already read. I

patron history but warning message is better solution for our library
because our current system has this feature. Is here some way to patch Koha
for this feature? Warning can look similar as show attached file.

Hi Mike

I would check bugzilla (bugs.koha-community.org) to see if the feature
has been requested. If not , you could add a request for it. It would
need to be controlled by a system preference I would imagine, or
limited to certain categories.

Anyway as with anything on bugzilla, the more information you give the
more likely it is to be done.

[Koha] RDA framework

2013-08-28 Thread Chris Meech
Hi,
The Koha RDA framework here
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/MARC_frameworks#RDA_Framework
seems to be lacking a 264 field.

Has anyone got an RDA framework that includes 264?

Cheers

We could have pretty fast,

If you grab that, import it, add the 264, export the framework and add
it to the wiki :)
