 Dear all,

Has anyone noticed much higher CPU utilisation after upgraded to 3.18?
Since our upgrade from 3.16, our CPU utilisation is constantly around 80%
instead of the 20% when running the previous version. This is also after
 we
changed from GRS1 to DOM indexing. Nothing else have changed as far as the
system settings are concerned. We still have javascript in place to stop
Google robot trolling our OPAC (same script as from 3.16).

This morning, we couldn't even access Koha due to this issue!

 Kind regards,

 Iming

Looks like we have resolved this issue. Our system drive space is running

[Koha] overdue notice lists all checked out books

2014-12-15 Thread Yuval Hager
Hi,

I noticed this after upgrading to 3.18.1 (from 3.16). If a patron has overdue
items, they receive the overdue notice, but the list of overdue items includes
all the books they have checked out, not only the overdue ones.

I also get this error on the cron run, not sure if it's related:
Use of uninitialized value $borrowernumber in string eq at
/usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/overdue_notices.pl line 544.

Installed on Debian from the koha repositories.

 Greetings,

I think the problem is that some people do not understand the difference
between a desktop application and a web-based application. The key
difference being where is the processing done, and where does the visual
 output show up.

A desktop application running under Windows, means the program needs to be
written specifically to run on Windows, because the processing and display
are on that specific desktop computer. Windows is doing the processing, and
 Windows is doing the displaying.

A web application is different. The processing is done elsewhere. To
install Koha, you are actually installing the thing that does the
processing, not what does the displaying, because any* browser on any**
computer can view and use Koha.

 * there are limitations, but not because of Koha, but rather because some
 browsers are really awful.
** there are limitations, because to access you actually have to be able
to network the server where you installed Koha to the client's computer
where the browser is calling from.

Just in case this was the conversation that needed to occur. :)

Re: [Koha] Can't enable Plugins

2014-12-15 Thread Bob Ewart

Hi Sami,

I'm running koha 3.18 on debian wheezy (7) installed via apt-get install
koha-common.

I got a little farther following
http://kohageek.blogspot.com/2013/09/how-to-setup-plugin-system-in-koha.html#comment-form

He said that the lines in koha-conf.xml need to go before the last
/config line near the end of the file and the Alias /plugin/ line
should go at the end of library file in /etc/apache2/sites-available.

Once I got the updates in the proper place and enabled UseKohaPlugins,
_Tools Plugins_ appeared on the Tools page as did _Report Plugins_ on
the Reports page which was as described in Chapter 14 of the 3.18
manual. However there was no Plugins option under the More menu in the
tool bar.

When I went to Tools-Tools Plugins I expected to be able to upload some
of the Bywater Solutions sample plugins. This is what I got:

Undefined subroutine main::/var/lib/koha/bobsown/plugins called at (eval 1828)

Chapter 14 in the 3.18 koha manual needs to be updated to include
/library/ where appropriate and to tell where the lines should be inserted.

Hi Jessie

One more question on the topic of virtual servers running on Windows...

What are people finding as good standard available RAM for Koha instances
on Virtual Servers?

2, Gb, 4Gb, 6Gb, 8 Gb, etc?

it depends.
In my opinion the more indicative values are:
-- Your number of bib and auth
-- Your circulations requests in 1 minute.

If you are under 25,000 biblio and 1 circ every 5 minutes
probably with same tuning and attention you can use 1-1,5 Gb of Ram.

[Koha] Record matching rules setup for the 024

2014-12-15 Thread Hillyard, Cecil
Hello,
I've been trying to set up record matching rules for the 024 using the
following :
Match point 1
1. Search index: Identifier-other
2. Score: 1000
Matchpoint components
1. Tag: 024
2. Subfields: a
3. Offset: 0
4. Length: 0
5. Normalization rule: Identifier-other

However, it does not work. Records I am importing do not find matches and I
know that some of the records in the small batch of records I am trying to
import do have the same 024s.

We are on Koha 3.16.03
