[Koha] Need help to open a staff patron

2016-06-27 Thread Mahmudul Hasan
Dear All

I am new here. So, I have read the manual and seen nothing to solve
this problem. According to manuual whenever i am going to add a new
patron. It can not.

At the first time when i was logged in following warning message shows
and that is

"You are logged in as the database administrative user. This is not
recommended because some parts of Koha will not function as expected
when using this account.

Please log in instead with a regular staff account. To create a staff
account, create a library, a patron category 'Staff' and add a new
patron. Then give this patron permissions from 'More' in the toolbar."

According to the message i went to the top of the site to set library
from there i chose the canterville. After that i clicked on create
patron>new patron and from drop down menu choose staff. There a
message came that is "can not add patron. please add a patron
category." So i clicked on the patron category. There i add a new
patron category named College Staff. Again i continued but again this
message comes. At last i went to tools>patron list> new patron> create
a new patron list> Give name "Staff">save and following message comes.

Software error:

Can't call method "patron_list_id" on an undefined value at
/usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/patron_lists/add-modify.pl line 55.

For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]),
giving this error message and the time and date of the error.

How can i fix it? I have no idea. Please help me. Even i can not open
the list. There also show same type message.

By the way I have installed on the following

Koha version-16.05.00.000
server platform- ubuntu 16.04 LTS amd64
method of installation-marc21

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Mahmud

Re: [Koha] OCLC Connexion users on Mac OS

2016-06-27 Thread Eric Phetteplace
Thanks, MJ. I tried converting an OCLC export to MARCXML using both
marc2xml and a custom pymarc script, both imports choked and failed in
Koha. I'm not sure where the issue lies, if it was just an artifact of one
of the records I chose in testing.

For the list's benefit, we're trying out a workflow that looks like this:

- use the "export to a file" option to download a MARC-8 file locally
- use the Stage MARC Records for Import tool to import from the file
- choose MARC-8 encoding in that tool's options

It worked in my initial tests but we'll see how well staff take to it, and
if the records have encoding problems. It's definitely a lot more work than
simply exporting directly into the ILS.

It's been a while since I supported Mac OS X but I'm pretty sure that the
marc2xml terminal tool should be installable on it. That should convert MARC 8
files to MARC XML ones that koha can import.

Hope that helps!

Jo,

When do you plan on traveling in the U.S.A.? There are a number of
Koha libraries (both community Koha, and LibLime Koha) around my
region who probably would be interested in a little conference like
this.

[Koha] SQL problem- showing results when they are zero.

2016-06-27 Thread Raymund Delahunty
We have a quite complex budget and funds structure which is making writing
reports somewhat challenging. For example, we have struggled at modify the
report below, to have it show lines when both Expenditure AND Commitments are
zero. When both are zero, the line is simply omitted from the result. We have
not seen any results where Expenditure is zero, but where Commitments is not (a
possible scenario, of course), so we are not sure if it is the Expenditures
being zero that is the underlying problem. For example running the query of the
CSM College library shows only 36 lines of results rather than the expected 44.
So 8 have zero in both Exp / Comms. Can someone suggest how we might add in the
missing 8 lines.

2016-06-27 Thread Mark Tompsett
Greetings,

If you are running Ubuntu, you should be at version 14.04 LTS, not 12.04
LTS. There are issues with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and 14.04 is the recommended
version of Ubuntu.
