Re: [Koha] Koha OFFLINE

2017-06-23 Thread Christopher Davis
Luis,

If your staff need to catalog items without access to the Internet, then
you might consider having them use something like MarcEdit <
http://marcedit.reeset.net/> to create the MARC records, then save the MARC
records until later when they can connect to the Internet again. At that
point in time, they could import the MARC records into Koha.

Re: [Koha] Fwd: Unable to reindex after massive upgrade

2017-06-23 Thread Michael Kuhn

Hi Mary

From my experience wrong permissions will often lead to an unindexed
catalog.

Given your instance is "xxx", the automatically created Koha user is
named "xxx-koha" and the group is "xxx-koha" all the file in directory
"/var/lib/koha/xxx" and its subdirectories have to belong to this user
"xxx-koha".

If this was not the case then change it and reindex.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes: Michael

We recently upgraded our old Koha install to a new install. We went from a
tarball install to a debian package install at the same time.

I am not entirely sure what version they had previously, but it was
3.something, and now it is Koha 17.050. I made a new site, upgraded
the old schema, and successfully followed the instructions from here:
https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Moving_an_installation_
from_a_regular_install_to_the_Debian_packages

The website (http://opac.scott.ac.ke/) comes up fine. I can do a search
for a book, and I can find it. But, when I click on a link, it gives me a
404.

So far as I can tell, my current issue is that we are not getting any of
the old records to reindex:

Opening up the rebuild_zebra.pl program and tracing it down, it seems that
the biblio_metadata table, where it is trying to track down the biblio data
from, is empty. I am assuming that it used to be stored elsewhere in a
previous version? I do see a deletedbiblio_metadata table, and I have
tracked some of that data down; I have a lot of biblio data in the
"import_biblios" table.

Anyway, It seems that my biblio_metadata table needs to be rebuilt /
repopulated after an upgrade. Any pointers on where to start?

If you mean by this that you'd like to limit some users' access to
reports based on their patron category, it's not possible. I'd love to
see a feature like that added (perhaps with permissions settings
instead).

[Koha] Syspref itemBarcodeFallbackSearch

2017-06-23 Thread Pedro Amorim
Hello everyone,

I imported records with *dedupbarcode* option and some of them were
imported with no barcode, because there were already some items with the
same barcode, as expected.

Now, I want to be able to check out some of the items that have no barcode
information, and tried the syspref *itemBarcodeFallbackSearch*. This is
nice because in the check out interface I can now input other information
(callnumber, copy number, record title) and still retrieve the item.
However, it seems that this search only provides the items that actually
have barcode information associated with it.

In the code:
https://github.com/Koha-Community/Koha/blob/master/circ/circulation.pl#L359

It seems that the item is only added to the list of options if there is, in
fact, bar code information.
After a couple of tests, it never returns the items with no barcode, only
the ones that have it. Has anyone tried this? Is this the expected
behaviour?

Thanks,

Pedro Amorim

[Koha] Any way to track user logins

Hello list,

I would like to know if there is any way within Koha by which i can track /
generate a report of user login (via OPAC) and especially the requests that
fail?

From an old post it seems this wasn't possible at least back in 2013. What
is the status now?
