Re: [Koha] Deleting items without barcodes

2019-09-20 Thread Eric Phetteplace
Hi Tami,

You can get them with a report. If it's true that you only want to delete
items without barcodes, then this report should do it:

SELECT itemnumber
FROM items
WHERE barcode = '' OR barcode IS NULL

That pulls items with no barcode field or (usually equivalent) an empty
barcode field. You can then download a CSV file of the results, copy all
the itemnumbers, and paste them into the bulk delete tool. You seem to know
that you want to do this but I would caution; there can be legitimate
reasons for items not to have barcodes, e.g. for electronic resources, but
if you know that that isn't the case for you just ignore me.

Best,

[Koha] Deleting items without barcodes

2019-09-20 Thread Tami Wilkerson
Hello,

I have a list of items that I would like to batch delete but the items do not
have barcodes. There is an option to batch delete using an item number file but
I do not know how to extract the item numbers from Koha to make the file. Can
anyone help?

Thanks,
Tami

I'm not responsible for adding entries to the web site, but I wanted
to point out this information from
https://koha-community.org/support/paid-support/how-to-get-listed/,

"Companies must show their support of the Koha Community by adding a
visible link to the Koha community website at
https://www.koha-community.org to their Koha offering web page."

I don't see a link to the Koha web site on this page:
http://metalanka.com/access-control/library-management-system/

Also please note the correct spelling of Koha. Not "KOHA."

Hi Isatou,

Yes! There is. Koha staff side > Tools > "Batch patron deletion and
anonymization". You didn't say what version you're on but here is the 18.11
documentation for that:
https://koha-community.org/manual/18.11/en/html/tools.html#batch-patron-deletion-anonymization

You can set criteria to delete the patrons so it sounds like simply using the
"expiration date before..." option is sufficient for you. Or it may be easier
to create a list of all the patrons then choose to delete everyone in the list.
Whenever we do any batch patron operation, we try to use patron lists. If you
have a report that pulls all the barcodes for the patrons, you can pretty
easily paste the results to make a list of them all.

Re: [Koha] Use of indicators in field 245

2019-09-20 Thread Ere Maijala
Hi,

Even if leadign article or other nonfiling characters can be handled
pretty well in modern search engines, it's worth noting that it's not so
straight-forward for sorting or any left-anchored searches. Like you
mentioned, we should always keep in mind that MARC records can be
exchanged between systems, and not all are created equal. In my
experience any deviation from standards comes back to bite you at the
latest when you switch systems.

Ere
