Re: [Koha] bug 3.14 barcode
i want to ask about searching barcode in koha V.3.14 , is it a bug will fix in next version or this a not bug ? There is no bug in 3.14 which prevents searching by barcode. Nor is there a bug which prevents the barcode from being saved to the items table, which you seem to be telling us is the case. It sounds like your Koha installation has been set up in such a way that barcode isn't being saved correctly. If there is no barcode to be searched, then of course searching by barcode will fail. Re: [Koha] CCSR and PROG
However, that brings up a longstanding confusion: when to use opaccolorstylesheet vs. opaclayoutstylesheet vs. OPACUserCSS? This depends mostly on how much customization you want to do. If you specify something different for opaclayoutstylesheet the default OPAC CSS will not be included. Your custom stylesheet will have to include a full reimplementation of the OPAC's design. If you specify something for opaccolorstylesheet it will be included after (and thus can override) opaclayoutstylesheet. This is usually the way I would recommend users add customizations to their OPAC. OPACUserCSS is useful if you cannot save your CSS customizations to a file on a server somewhere. The contents of OPACUserCSS are included inline on every page in the OPAC, so it's less efficient (won't be cached by users' browsers) but will easily override anything in opaclayoutstylesheet or opaccolorstylesheet. The CCSR theme is a weird case because it repurposes the opaccolorstylesheet preference for its own purposes, the the detriment of those who want to customize. This means that if you want to take advantage of the added efficiency of using the opaccolorstylesheet preference you'll need to copy the contents of CCSR's default colors.css into your custom stylesheet and add your own customizations after that. Or you can do it all in OPACUserCSS. I don't recommend messing with opaclayoutstylesheet. Re: [Koha] report for weeding
His idea was to create a fake patron, called Weeding, and check all the books out to the patron. Why check the books out to a patron? For one thing, it distorts your circulation statistics for all those records. You should probably create a list and run your queries on that. We'd want the report to include the title, author, date last checked out, and total checkouts, and probably year of publication. I don't see a way to do this using the guided reports. We've not changed the link for Koha to point to koha-community.org, as requested by a message on Twitter[2]. I assume that by not you mean now :) It was my understanding that LibLime was simply a company providing commercial support for the open source Koha product. Am I now correct in believing that it (also?) produces a separate, closed-source product called LibLime Academic Koha? LibLime does not support any version of Koha which is developed by the Koha open source community. They support one version, LibLime Koha 4-something, which is ostensibly open source because they sometimes push to a github repo, but which is developed exclusively by LibLime in isolation. They also sell LibLime Academic Koha, which is 100% closed-source, despite being based on GPL'ed code. Both versions diverged from Koha around version 3.2. The reason Koha doesn't show more options by default is that it was thought it would be better not to make the advanced search page *too* advanced. The expandedSearchOption system preference can be switched if one disagrees. I too think the advanced search page could be improved, but I think we need to define (and agree on) some goals. - improved accessibility - improved usability (layout? labeling? help?) - improved appearance (style) - improved functionality The first three are relatively easy in that they don't require programming. The last one seems to be the one people are responding to but is also the most difficult to accomplish. For example, the default boolean operator is AND which is not obvious to even normal user. I would contend that the normal user has no idea what a default boolean operator is. Re: [Koha] jquery and selectors
These seem to be Koha elements rather than standard DOM elements. How would I know that, or am I missing something? For the purposes of what you're doing there's no Koha versus standard DOM. jQuery looks at whatever markup is on the page. When you see this: $(#memberentry_contact label[for='phone']).html(Primary Phone :); It tells jQuery, Look for an element on the page with the ID attribute equal to memberentry_contact. Inside that, find me a label with the for attribute of phone. Change the text contents of that label to Primary Phone : In the example you first quoted, referring to opac-main-search, there is a div on each OPAC page with that ID. I am having issues with making changes to the Patron Messaging Preferences. I have attached the screen shots of what I see when I try to modify the patron's preferences. Your message did not include attachments, so I don't know which page you're looking at. Are you on the patron details screen, or the patron edit screen? You can't edit patron messaging preferences directly from the patron details screen. Is there a way to set a default value for patrons? Yes, you can set a default value for *new* patrons. It is configured with the patron caregory: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.8/en/patscirc.html#patcats Changing the default value will not affect existing patrons. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
Re: [Koha] Library selector disappered
I tried to setting the Staff Client properties and since I did that the library selector possibilitis (combo on login form and the right upper link in main form) disappered. Re: [Koha] with IndependantBranches on can still edit items
I'm using koha 3.6.4, and this bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6802 still open. There is an another version of koha with this bug fixed? This comment on the bug report is your answer: This is fixed in master. Is it still a problem is 3.6? master means the latest version in development. Since the comment was as of 2012-03-29 that implies that it is fixed in version 3.8.3. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha

Re: [Koha] Searching by the exact barcode in cataloguing
When replying to Koha digest emails, please don't quote the entire digest. But I had another problem, if enter a barcode it display me the exact title instead it display me all the titles with barcode number prefix or suffix to my search. If you search for a specific barcode and a matching title is found, you will be shown only that title. If you search for a partial barcode for which there is no exact match you will be shown titles with similar barcodes. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha

Re: [Koha] expressions of interest for Koha sip enhancement
Currently, we have the complete script but it has not passed testing (ie does not yet work right) and we will be getting back to that in late July/early Aug. Hope this helps. It would help if the work in progress were posted to a public git repo. Then anyone who was interested could contribute right away. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
Re: [Koha] Request to list as paid supporter
Anyone like to translate what it says about each, by the way? Here is the Google translation of relevant lines: The koha main development site http://www.koha.org . koha introduction: the the http://www.gnu.org development of library management software, 1999, New Zealand, Horowhenua Library Trust (HLT) began development of Koha http://www.koha.org open source library management software. Traditional Chinese version already exists. The latest version is 3.00.01. If there is a need to download from http://download.koha.org/koha-3.00.01-stable.tar.gz . If you want to get 2.2.6 or older on board, please go to http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=16466 download. Koha development site also provides http://www.koha.org/showcase/ . On the other hand, earlier on the page: Download from of Koha Library Software Community [http://koha-community.org/download-koha/] [official version] Given so much of the information it out of date it could just be a case of bad editing. I don't know if we could refuse to list someone for linking to *both* sites, but I would hope we could ask for misinformation to be removed. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha

[Koha] Next general IRC meeting: 18 July 2012 at 10:00 UTC+0
At the June 2012 general IRC meeting (just concluded), it was decided that the next meeting would be 18 July 2012 at 10:00 UTC+0 The last few general IRC meetings have been sparsely attended. I asked that today's meeting be adjourned and rescheduled because of the small number of attendees. Instead we adjourned without rescheduling. I think it would be worthwhile to get feedback about the above date and time and reschedule if necessary. Will that date work? Does anyone want to propose an earlier date for a meeting to cover the agenda items not covered in today's meeting? -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org ___ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
