I am not entirely sure this is good and correct behavior by the SIP2 protocol. In particular, this will cause SIP2 book sorting devices to fail on all items that are not checked out, causing them all to be put into the special handling been that should be reserved for things like items checked in at the wrong library and items on hold. Test Plan: 1) Apply the patch for bug 13159 so you can use the new enhanced SIP2 command line emulator 2) Use a command similar to the following to check in an item: sip_cli_emulator.pl -a localhost -su sip user -sp sip password -l instituation id --item barcode -m checkin 3) Note the 3rd character is 0, and there is an AF field saying the item is not checked out 4) Apply this patch 5) Restart the SIP server 6) Repeat steps 2-3, note that nothing has changed 7) In the SIP config file, Add the parameter checked_in_ok=1 to the SIP account you are using. 8) Restart the SIP server 9) Repeat steps 2-3, note that this time the 4rd character is 1, and you do not recieve the item not checked out message. Bug 13666 - Allow SIP2 checkin/checkout to get branch from institution_id field
AO
This patch adds a policy flag in SIPConfig.xml that allows overriding branch on
SIP2 checkout with the AO (institution id) field. Since SIP2 also uses
C4::Context
this patch has to modify C4::Context-userenv-{'branch'}
Test plan:
1) Either use telnet or apply patch from bug #13159 to use sip command line
client
2) Checkout book with SIP2 using a modified institution id (field AO) than
the one defined in SIPConfig.xml for the account
3) Notice returned AO is still same as in SIPConfig account
4) Also notice checkout history in admin gives same 'checked out from'
5) Apply this patch and add 'allow_branch_override=true to the policy of your
ILS
6) Restart SIP server
7) Repeat 2)
8) Notice that 3) and 4) now reports the modified institution id

I ended up reengineering the SIP2 command line tester quite a bit. Once deletedborrowers is cleared, borrowernumber seems a fairly anonymous piece of info, but that might just be how we use it as staff here. As far as I can tell, the statistics table doesn't null out borrowernumber when deleting a patron either. We just started a NoveList subscription, I'm not sure if it's our scripts conflicting with theirs. I can replicate the problem in the Los Gatos catalog (they also use NoveList). I tried to replicate on non-NoveList OPACs like NEXpress and Plum Creek but the series searching keeps giving me 404s and empty searches. I am not entirely sure this is good and correct behavior by the SIP2 protocol. In particular, this will cause SIP2 book sorting devices to fail on all items that are not checked out, causing them all to be put into the special handling been that should be reserved for things like items checked in at the wrong library and items on hold. Bug 11998 - fix some compile warnings
This lazy-loads C4::Context and some other modules so that they can be
be safely used by C4::Context without introducing problematic circular
dependencies.
This approach may be somehow problematic IMO.. Looks like it relies on the
unwritten assumption that 'use C4::Context' would be always used somewhere
beforehand at least once - because if not, usually there will be no
default/already existing context to rely upon. Currently, initial context is
most often created stored as default in the import() function in C4::Context
(and typically only there ?). Take this part for example:

The location of these fields is defined in the system preference MarcFieldsToOrder from bug 7180. The workflow is thus: 1) A librarian uploads an order record file, and marks the batch as an order file during the staging process. 2) The librarian selects an acquisitions basket and chooses from a staged order file 3) From here, the librarian can view all the records that will be created, along with quantity and other data ( from bug 7180 ). The librarian will *not* see the item fields, as those are automatically created using the minimum data needed ( branches, itype ). 4) The librarian hits save and the items are automatically generated on order. Later ( using features not directly tied to this feature ), the librarian will receive a new marc batch file with items attached ( including itemnumbers ). The vendor will have this information because it was sent via EDI ( bug 7736 ). The librarian will then use the marc record staging feature to overlay those bare bones item records with the full data ( via bug 7131 ).
