What ABOUT a new table to store this data? That seems to be the simplest solution. Something that is storing the fields id, borrowernumber, itemnumber, date, and reason or something like that, where the reason field or whatever it could be called is the reason for this data being stored -- last borrower in this case. And a field like that could open the door for this table to be used for a few other things. It could be used to store data like the statistics.type fieldd oes, that stores issue, return, renew, localuse data. Could something be written to delete this table for those countries/locations that need to anonymize all patron data, due to privacy concerns/laws; and then leave the data in this table for those libraries that need this data? And this may be way outside the scope of this conversation, but could a new table like this open the door to also be used [after future development] to store (staff) borrower data for tracking items adds/edits/deletes/branch transfers to items, using the above reason field? Because while this particular data is stored in the cataloging logs, my system is way too big to keep those logs turned on, and I'd love a way to be able to track that type of data. I propose this additional suggestion, so maybe this table could possibly take on additional uses, other than just the one way to balance privacy differences for those who want to keep last borrower data and anonymize the rest of the data vs those who can't keep any of these data due to local policies and laws. Perhaps it can be designed in such a way that this function would have an option to store the last x patrons. It could also have a timestamp and feature to remove the data if it is x days old. It definitely should have the ability to be turned off if needed. And to address what Heather suggested, yes, it could be used for other things, but I think having a tables for specific functions lends itself to a more efficient database rather than trying to design a table that encompasses many things. I think the more a table tries to cover, makes the table bigger and less efficient. There is more stuff to wade through. Something that needs to be considered for any table in the database. The more you throw in a table, the less effective the database, as a whole, becomes. The issue here is that there can be a large number of patrons with a privacy
of 2 (Never) even if all of the following are true:
* OPACPrivacy is off
* All patron categories have a default privacy of Forever or Default
This can occur for three major reasons:
* The patrons had their privacy settings changed when OPACPrivacy was
previously enabled, but it has since been disabled
Restricting the privacy of the users is really not kind. Especially if they had
chosen to protect their data previously.
I'd say it's like breaking a contract :)
* The patrons were imported with a privacy of 2
They should not have been imported with privacy=2 if OPACPrivacy is off.
* A patron category had a default privacy setting of Never at the time the
patron was created (if the category's default privacy setting is later
changed, it does not affect the privacy of previously created patrons)
Same as before, there is an inconsistency in the configuration ('Never' with
OPACPrivacy off).
This isn't an edge case; we have a large number of libraries whose checkins
were silently failing after a bugfix upgrade due to one of the three
scenarios above.
You should have got a big warnings during the updatedatabase process, don't you
got it?

Hm, so it looks like the main problme is a mismatch of the template logic to
display the warning with the logic in the module? (privacy setting of the
borrower vs. system preferences?)

Managing existing printer profiles - possibly once only! 9. Creating new printer profiles - possibly once only! This change to the label creator aims to make the most frequently used items easily accessible at the top of the main area, reduces clutter on the page, and makes the label creator fall in line with UI paradigms found elsewhere in Koha. To test: Open the label creator: More - Tools - Label creator Note that the toolbar has changed. It should be consistent across all of the label creator (it is an include). + New menu: Label batch 1. make sure it looks ok - toolbar buttons are consistent at the top of the main block. 2. add items both by barcode, and by search (note this patch does not touch the pop up window.
