Summary: ctrl-shift-W does not respect configurability
   Product: kopete
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kopete-devel kde org
ReportedBy: ahlgren mit edu

Version: 0.12.4 (using KDE 3.5.6 "release 64.1" , openSUSE )
Compiler: Target: x86_64-suse-linux
OS:Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.20-rt8-default

*All global shortcuts should be configurable.*

Ctrl-alt-W is a global shortcut which has been usurped by Kopete (I think).
Whenever I hit it, it toggles the away status. This prevents other programs
from using ctrl-shift-W

Reproducibility:
Easy

Fixability:
Probably easy -- if the problem is with Kopete, the solution is: add the
shortcut to Settings > Configure Global Shortcuts

No, don't change it to that. Ctrl-shift-W is another global shortcut used by
gnome-terminal, which Kopete usurped, and is just as annoying. There's no way
to disable it in Kopete, which is what I'm about to file another bug report for.

Then there should be a possibility to disable the plugin for icq or special
protocols of meta contacts. At the moment I can only enable or disable it for
the whole contact.

By the way this also happens with normal message that could be split into
several messages. I don't know if this is true, but my guess is that miranda
users have the most problems with longer messages... Nevertheless other clients
then kopete seem to be able to write longer messages to miranda. So maybe
kopete doesn't do a check for supported length ore something like that?

Re: [kopete-devel] [Bug 100504] Feature request for Yahoo audibles support

2007-05-23 Thread Scott Lerman

Yeah, I figured packet sniffing would be the first step. I'd probably work
on the sender side first, since that should just be a matter of a menu or
button with a list and then sending the appropriate message (which is
hopefully just some sort of specially-formatted string). I'll see if I can
get the packet sniffing done this weekend.

Hi,

the first thing that needs to be done is reverse-engineer how the audibles
work, that means sniff the packets, the official client sends/retrieves
and
understand what happens. This behaviour must then be implemented in
Kopete.

If that is done, the rest shouldn't be too hard. IIRC the audibles are
little
flash files, so you'd need to download and probably best cache them
somewhere
and find out how to display them in the chatwindow and find a way to let
the
user select one to be sent.

If you want to tackle it, i'd be glad to help you where i can, if you get
stuck at some point.

André

I know a couple people that would like to have support for Yahoo's audibles,
and I found this feature request from a couple years ago. How difficult
would it be to implement this, either as a separate plugin or as part of the
Yahoo core? My C/C++ is pretty rusty, but I should be able to do some
relatively simple stuff. If it would be feasible for me, are there one or
