Pat, I may be able to help. I have converted N774A to tricycle gear and I gave the original gear (1974) to a friend. He's out of town right now, but the gear is still in his hangar, with parts of another. If you still need it, I'll ask him if he wants to part with it. You can contact me off net at ankerst...@embarqmail.com. KR> BMW engine v VW and Corvair
Phil- Tell me a bit more about your type 4 with a gear reduction -- Pat my engine now has 350 Hours, is a type 4, Aluminium barrels, German sleeves, Chevy pistons, hyd lifters, twin CD cards,100 HP at 4000 rpm. I fly at 3600 every where, with 60 " Dia ground adjust Prop. (You Can get EFI engine as well) When I first installed it, it had 1.6:1 reduction, but I thought the prop speed was a bit slow for that prop, it is now 1.3:1 reduction fitted to flywheel end of the engine, it has a VW engines design alternator built into the other end of the engine mounting brackets. Check out , That is my engine on the web page, just before it first flight. Other info can be found on that web page. Two Youtude clips of my KR2. Video 1 is my KR on take off with Belt drive- TURN UP THE SOUND. Video 2 is the same engine with the first prototype Geared reduction, you can hear the noise of the gear box, that was replaced with the belt drive. much smoother and less noise. http://www.vw-engines.com/index.htm Phil Matheson SAAA Ch 37 http://www.philskr2.50megs.com/ ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html
