KR> KR Parts for Sale

2013-03-06 Thread Steve and Janet Henderson
Hello,

I have not been on this list for a few years, but I am back to sell some
parts that I have. I will be posting a web page tomorrow with pictures
of what I have for sale, and I have included a list of some of the parts
for sale below. I have more parts in my shed, and will be getting more
out this weekend and adding it to the web page, assuming the weather
doesn't get bad. Most of these parts are new and still in the box. I
have sold the plane and engine.

Diehl landing gear for tail dragger
Diehl upper and lower fairings for landing gear
Diehl wheel pants
Tail wheel spring
Tail wheel assembly with wheel
KR stick assembly
VW engine stand
Rudder pedals with cylinders for hydraulic brakes
Wing attach fittings
Wheels and tires
Hydraulic Brakes
Axles

Thanks,
Steve Henderson

KR> why not a starter/generator

2013-03-06 Thread John Martindale
A combination starter/generator would be ideal in theory but issues I see
with the one pictured are:

One, the wire gauge for the starter circuit would need to be larger than the
charge circuit. I doubt very much that 25 amps would allow sufficient
starting torque.

Two, I suspect the pulley belt would not be able to transmit the starting
torque required without slipping or even breaking.

Having said that though I have seen combination units somewhere (??) that
are gear driven.or maybe a toothed belt

Mark

Somehow I don't see me dealing with that much snow or ICE I lived in MN a
couple winters and found you folks have two seasons Winter and the 4th of
July... A suggestion for the bottom of a door freezing down. On my overhead
doors that use a rubber seal on the bottom, I replaced them with a hollow
rubber seal and inserted one of the heat tapes through this opening. The
control is attached to the door and an extra long drop cord is then attached
so it will allow the door to open and close without unplugging the cord. It is
sometimes necessary to swing the extra cord out of the way when the door is
closing. It uses the same amount of a small bulb and only warms it
sufficiently to keep the door from freezing down... However I am in Iowa a
bit warmer. jw
