KR> Water Based Paint

2013-09-12 Thread Dave_A
Water based paint = a big mess... House paint in perticular...

It's not flexible enough to actually adhere without cracking/peeling...

Prior owner of my project used the stuff UGH!

KR> Wicks spruce kit

2013-09-12 Thread PPaulVsk at aol.com
Hi everyone, First I would like to thank Rodger and Larry for showing me
there planes this last week or so. It was great seeing them and getting vary
excited about my project.
Tomorrow is my big day. I go for my flight physical. If I pass it I'll
start order plans and start cleaning my garage out. If I fail. I guess I'll
have to start my honey do list. Starting with remodeling the kitchen. Boy! I
hope I pass. I haven't flown for 25 years and now with the kids out it's my
time. Over the past years I had some health issues which I don't think
there disqualifying. Heck, I got a DOT physical for being a over the road
truck driver. Wish me luck .
Know for my question. I went over to Wicks the other day and got a price
for the spruce kit for the KR-2S for just under $1500.00. I called Spruce
Aircraft and there price is around $1,100.00. I don't know if the there kits
are different or what. I asked both stores what the price for a 5/8" x
5/8" spruce strip was and Wicks was $1.19 a ft and Spruce Aircraft was $1.41
a ft. I don't get it. I would like to support Wicks being there right down
the street. But that's a lot of money. Any ideas what's going on.

Ask each supplier for a detailed breakdown list of what is in their
wood kit and compare the two list. They should list each piece of
wood in the kit.

Wick's Aircraft has agreed to deliver orders to the Gathering for
pickup. I forgot now if they said Friday or Saturday but I think it
was Friday. Make sure your order is placed by the Wednesday before
the Gathering to give them time to fill the order. This could save
shipping on hazmat or oversize material.

I still need two or three people to act as judges at the
Gathering. The only requirement is that you not have a KR at the
Gathering and that you know how to judge quality workmanship.

JUST 21 MORE DAYS !

KR> Gathering hats / shirts

2013-09-12 Thread Larry&Sallie Flesner

I just spoke with my supplier and she will be gone the week before
the Gathering. That means the cutoff for hat and shirt orders will
be this Sunday midnight (9/15). That gives her 3 day to get the
shirts shipped and one week to finish them.

I will have a few extra of the popular sizes but not many. First
come, first served on the extra. If you have one ordered I will hold
it till Saturday noon for pickup. Order now so you won't miss
out. Anyone wanting a shirt / hat and unable to attend the Gathering
can e-mail me at flesner at frontier.com with mailing address and
size. $25 for shirt, $12 for a hat and $8.50 shipping in the
USA. Mail check to:

Larry Flesner
1104 Mockingbird Lane
Carterville, Illinois 62918

Orders from outside the USA, I will advise on shipping before you send check.

A big THANK YOU to Bob Lee for his work on the Gathering site.

2013-09-12 Thread Bob Lee
The answer to the question "How often is the gathering list updated?", is it
depends.

After the gathering in the late fall it might be once a month. During the
spring and summer it's once a week. Once we get to August, it's every other
day.

I just updated the page today (9/12/13) and it was last updated on
(9/10/13). There were three registrations added on 9/10/13, and five added
today 9/12/13. If you look at the top of the pre-registration page, there
is a line that says "[Pre-Registration information as of September 12, 2013
10:15 AM EDT.]" in bright blue text. This line was added about five years
ago when the same question came up.

Be sure to clear your browser cache when checking for updates or you might
get an old page from your system's cache. I use chrome, you push
ctl+shift+del and then it brings up a screen that allows you to delete
browser cache. If you're on a different browser I'm not famialiar with how
you would clear cache.

If your name is not on the current list please accept my apology for the web
eating your registration, or me messing it up if that's the case. Anyone in
this condition needs to register again because everything in the server's
data file has been posted already.

See you all in Mt. Vernon.

Bob Lee
