Here is a picture of the top cowl newly cut from the bottom cowl. Not quite
like birthing a baby, but you get the idea. Have not seen that VW for a
while. Still lots more to go.

I went a few years back, and consider it well worth the money. I had
never worked with fiberglass before the class, and by the end of the
class I felt comfortable experimenting on my own having learned a good
foundation.

I would highly recommend that you attend.

I went through the class a couple of years ago in Kansas City and really
enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey, and I missed my once a year car show that I
hadn't missed in years, but felt to make the best possible plane I could, I
better go. I am glad I went. There was a lot of guys there not building
airplanes, but wanting to learn composites. A diverse group and I visited
with as many as I could. The movers and shakers show up at places like
this. I am glad I went.

I would like to know if anyone can provide feedback on the EAA SportAir
Composite Construction workshop.
There is a workshop to be held locally in about a month and I would like to
know if anyone has attended this workshop and if so do you feel it is worth the
$350.00 fee.
The cost seems pretty pricey to me and is up about $70.00 from last year.
To the guys who have gone before me and learned glassing on their own- would it
be smarter to invest the cost of the workshop in cloth & resin and learn it as
I go ?
Any input is appreciated.

Robert..

Great news, good to hear you got someone with experience to test fly.

Please keep us informed of your testing , and may your problems be only
minor ones.

Great to have another KR in Australia.

We may now be able to assemble enough at one location for our own gathering.

PLEASE remember all KR lovers we have the Ra Aus at Temora NSW at Easter, I
will have VH-PKR there as usual. the more the better.
Book early as beds are hard to get. I just says in a PUB, good beer and
food.

   Alot of passionate responses here.
I did the same thing Tony did. Both on my Sonerai II and my KR 2.
In both cases I felt the same as he did.
There is alot of techno talk out there and some for good reason but I
urge you to be careful. Some of that and how it is presented can have the
effect of causing a new or even a not so new builder to toss his or her
hands up. Airplane builders are a unique bunch but all of us build for the
pride of ownership of a special aircraft. Years ago design was an " it
looks about right" science and many aircraft flew just fine. Obviously
numbers and engineering are important and have greatly improved safety BUT
they are not the end all and sometimes a "look see" is still the best
option.
 Respectfully,
