KR> Elevator weights advise

2014-05-05 Thread ppaul...@aol.com via KRnet
I can't decide where to put my elevator counter weights. I'm adding three inche
foam horns to the elevator and covering the hole thing with carbon fiber.
With the horns just foam will they be strong enough to support the weight or
should I just add the weight off the push rod like Mark did. How much weight
are we talking about? I'm using the new tail.

KR> changes to KRnet message headers

2014-05-05 Thread Mark Langford via KRnet
NetHeads,

The "DMARC change" has led to some forced changes in the Mailman system, so
email from the list will now have your name and "via KRnet" appended to the
end. "Your name" is whatever you filled in on your user account page when
you subscribed to KRnet. Your email address no longer shows up in the body
of the email, but when you hit "reply to" both the sender and the list
addresses go into the TO field, so you can either delete the original poster
from it or he'll get it twice, which won't be the end of the world. I'm
sure there are other ramifications.we'll see. To change your name that
will be displayed, go back to May 1st and find the notification from
krnet-owner at list.krnet.org titled "list.krnet.org mailing list memberships
reminder", which has your password reminder in it, as well as a link to your
account page at the bottom so you can make changes to that sort of thing.
If you're one of those people who deletes mails immediately after you read
them, another alternative is to go to
http://list.krnet.org/mailman/options/krnet_list.krnet.org/ and enter your
username in the field, and then go down and click on the REMIND button. It
will send you your password via email shortly. It can't get any easier
than that.

Last night about a hundred subscribers had their account disabled
automatically by the system, and I found an email in my box describing the
change that I made this morning. We'll see how it goes, but don't be
surprised if your account is disabled again while we work through this.
Last night's round involved mostly yahoo, Hotmail, Comcast, frontier,
scglobalnet, bellsouth, webtv, rogers, msn, and att users. Hopefully nobody
will have to get another email address. This may or may not have fixed it.
Just cut me some slack for the time being.

KR> Shop equipment - air compressors

2014-05-05 Thread via KRnet
I got the big 60 gallon compressor years ago when I was having neighbor
issues with noise. My thinking was that with the big 60 gallon tank
that I could run it before it got too late then shut it off and still
have air to work at night without the compressor running. Also put it
in the shed behind my garage and planned on putting a muffler on the air
intake and possibly building a foam box around it for sound insulation,
but I was very surprised to find out that the unit was so quiet that I
didn't need to do the extra effort.

A second reason for the big 60 gallon tank was for painting in the humid
Florida weather. I figured that I could fill the tank, wait a half hour
for all the water to drain to the bottom then drain the tank and keep it
shut off while painting so I could have drier air without adding a
refrigerated dryer. Not sure if this works or not, but sounded like it
would.

Fixed my air compressor problem by buying a new unit. Got the $179.99
sale
compressor from Harbor Freight for $149.99 by using my Inside Track Club

card. All of my current equipment and air accessories will work with the

new higher capacity compressor.
Thanks for the suggestions. Spray painting shall re-commence very soon.
