KR> Sanding Blocks
Little late but just found your email in spam folder. Rap the sand paper around three sides and staple the two sides that you don't intend to use. Larry Flesner wrote: >My real name in my e-mail program was blank. Yep, that's the answer! For you folks who are "shooting blanks" and your emails to the list come back with simply "via KRnet", you need to enter your name (or email address) into your email program's "name" field. It's the place where it asked you upon setup for "your name" or something like that. Most email apps/programs are different, so google it if you can't figure out where it is, or call or check your ISP's web site. I know you can do this... My real name in my e-mail program was blank. We'll see if that fixed it . No need to reply. I'll know when I get this back. Larry Flesner
KR> Flight Control Cables
Just looked it up to confirm. "Fabricating Controls Cables", on page 120 of "The Sportplane Builder" by Ton Bingelis. It was the 1st of Tony's books I bought - but I did end up with all four by the time I finished building the KR. Concur with Mark on their value. If you don't have the EAA series of books by Tony Bengelis, you need to buy all four and read them ASAP. I'm pretty sure it covers the details of making these cables, although I'd have to see whether it's Sportplane Builder or Sportplane Construction Techniques that goes into the most detail on these. These are most vital of the four are the two "Sportplane" books ( see http://www.amazon.com/Sportplane-Builder-Aircraft-Construction-Bingelis/dp/0 94571 ). - Warning: This response may contain information that is unsuitable for overly sensitive persons with low self-esteem, no sense of humor, or irrational beliefs. Paul, I used 3/32s for my KR. Used an inexpensive hand swagger ($20). The Tony Bingles books as a reference. KR> Rudder pedals
Quoting Phill Hill: "Hi guys, I'm working on my rudder pedals. The 5/8 x .035" tubing seems a bit "springy" to me. Did everyone else use this tubing for their rudder pedals or did you go up to .049?" Sparky lost his first KR to having the tubing called for in the plans. A gust caught him when flaring here at KSEE and in recovering broke the rudder tubing which left him without rudder. He ended up clipping something stationary and breaking his left wing and pretty much messing the plane up beyond repair. So . . . don't skimp on the rudder tubing is the lesson here. My KR rudder pedals have no tubing, just cables running directly back to the rudder - just another of the nice design features that Ken Cottle had in mind when building N335KC.
