KR> Canopy/Seat

2015-10-04 Thread Chris Gardiner
Joe,
RR was Rand Robinson at the time. Now NVAero is the KR source for parts. Not
sure if they sell this sling seat part. Check their web site.
The sling seat is very comfortable and lightweight for 2 people.
The foam is available from Wicks Supply. Just search under "seat foam"
It's a bit expensive but well worth it.

Trevor;

I mounted my comm/nav antenna just under the leading edge of the vertical
stabilizer. The antenna consists of a straight piece of 1/16 copper rod pushed

turtle deck cowling just below the antenna connection at the bottom of the
vertical stab.

My transponder antenna is mounted on the bottom of the fuselage directly behind
the seat and bolted through a 16 inch square sheet of thin aluminum glued to
the floor of the fuselage.

I have an Icom A-20 comm/nav and a Narco ATI50 transponder. Everything seems
to work just fine.

I pulled out my beatifully apolstered seat with its plush thick comfortable
cusion. ?I put a plywood board down as the seat and I have plenty of head and
leg room. ?
I welcome you in joining me as I say goodbye to my beautiful cusion and hello
to something more functional.
In my minimax I use one of those memory foam pillows to sit on.?
?What do you use?

Good evening,

I've been able to finish my seats, and I am very pleased with the
results. However (you know how it is when someone says "however") I sat in
the airplane (and, yes, I'll admit to making airplane noises too) and I
lowered the canopy-the result was needing to cock my head to the right in
order to close it completely.

KR> permanent magnet alternator isolation relay

2015-10-04 Thread John Martindale
Folks

Here?s an example photo of a relay used to isolate the AC output on the
permanent magnet alternator. It is a ?circuit breaker? if you like but driven
by excess voltage not current.

The black goes to earth, the yellow provides the trigger signal from the
overvoltage device and the two blue wires I think come from the AC output. I
think but am not sure are ?crowbared? or shorted together thus effectively
shutting down the output to elsewhere but alternatively the relay might just
break the circuit. I?ve forgotten where I found this but it is possibly from an
older Bob Nuckolls site.

Trust it is not too confusing.

KR> Electrical System

2015-10-04 Thread John Martindale
Gday Mark

Yep, I tried a similar system (refer photos) for the alternator some years
ago. These are parts from a Harley.

I have a similar battery diode system on my Land Cruiser for when I go bush.
Very hard to turn over a large diesel by hand and always good to have power
to run the HF radio in case of emergency (and the beer fridge).

KR> Matco Brakes

2015-10-04 Thread Ronald Wright
I have a question on fitting a set of Matco brakes.. ?Once they are installed
Matco wants you to measure the distance between the brake plate adapter and the
caliper housing? ?Max 0.125 and min .05 inches using new pads.
Then they tell you to "adjust the length by moving the brake plate inboard or
outboard as needed".. ?NO mention of what to use/where for spacing? ?There are
4 screws holding the brake plate to the axle. ?I don't know whether to put
"washers" on the 4 screws or whether it needs a full size plate between the
brake plate and the axle plate? ?Plus, the screws are really small and SHORT..
When installing the wheel on the axle, there is a spacer installed on the axle
first, then the wheel slides on the axle.. ?Once this is done, you can screw
the brake disc onto the wheel hub. ?The problem I'm having is I can't tell
whether the wheel bearing is bottoming out on the spacer or the non-movable
?brake pad is hitting the front face of the brake disc?? ?There is no way to
see inside to tell which is making contact first?? ?Their instructions don't
make sense, at least to me??
I'm going to try and attach a couple of pictures of the brake unit off the
axle. ?The disc with the screws poking out is the mounting plate they want me
to "space" in or out to get the .125 or .05.. ?The second pic is the side view
showing the space they want you to measure.. ?Right now that space is almost
.250" from the brake housing to the spacer..
I hope the pics make sense!!
Thanks,
Ron
