KR> Gathering update
I hope to have the 2016 Gathering forum schedule posted in the next few days. There have been some changes and additions. I'll advise when it gets posted. If you haven't registered yet and hope to order a hat and shirt, please do so in the next few days. I hope to place the first order in the next week or so and would like to include as many as possible in order to hold down shipping cost. Thanks Larry Flesner

KR> VW engines questions
Few VW questions, anyone know any significant differences between Great Plains and Revmaster approaches to VW Type 1 engine? In particular, Revmaster has a hemispherical chamber and improved alloy in the heads. Wondering any feedback on that. Also, would welcome any comments on ignition types, aircraft plugs vs automotive, dual ign/plugs "required"? And as far as electronic ignition, major pros and cons, and do those have knock sensor options in this application? One last thing, ken rands KR1 had the mag as belt driven and up high so the engine could be against the firewall. I would like not to extend the engine mount out just to accommodate a huge center magneto, so anything which speaks to this would help. Sorry for the newb type questions but I'm at where I'm at and some of this info could be quite new. Thanks!
KR> 19 year old KRNet "blast from the past"
Wow... it HAS been a long time, and there really are a lot of names that I remember from that era. Mike Mims hosted me at his hangar in CA and showed me how to do a fiberglass wet-out and layup. Right then and there, my first ever. John Roffey, the maker of the famous wind tunnel model spars. I had just a tiny bit to do with the development of the AS50xx airfoil, and am glad to have been a part of that. Steve Eberhart, what a guy. Of course Mark and Jeff- permanent friends of mine. Troy Petteway. Ross Youngblood. Randy Stein. So many others. One thing stands out: a lot of you are still out there after all these years, still experimenting, still flying, developing, giving, sharing. And it's still fun! Glad somebody is having fun on http://www.sport-aircraft.org &.com & .net I've hosted those domains 12 years. I guess I should more actively promote the content... Subject: Re: KR> 19 year old KRnet "blast from the past" Wow! A bunch of names in that thread that we haven't heard from in ages, and many I had forgotten. -Jeff Scott I was doing a search for some plenum differential pressure measurements last night when I ran across this snippet of KRnet archive that rekindled some old memories. See http://www.sport-aircraft.org/digests/1997/197.txt if you have 10 minutes to kill, and still remember those earlier days on KRnet... Mark Langford

Wow!? A bunch of names in that thread that we haven't heard from in ages, and many I had forgotten.? ? 19 years ago.? Reminds me that 19 years ago last week was the first flight of my KR.? 19 years and 1120 hours later, I'm still having fun... and still don't quite have the plane finished. :o)? Tomorrow the KR goes on the scales to see how bad I've fouled up the W with the changes this year... and to help me make a plan to get it right... again. ? -Jeff Scott ?
