KR> Glue Joints not holding - T88

2008-10-12 Thread Keith and Martha Crawford
Wow! having built a minimax using t88 and working on varies other
wooden projects I have never used anything other then
the squeeze method. Yes i have broken a couple of joints but they
always pull more wood then the glue.
a but-joint doesn,t have any strength until you add a gusset. Its
much harder to brake one of these joint.
but not impossible.
so the skin acts as a large gusset and makes the hole thing as strong
as it can be.
T 88 is some what of forgiving glue, I know I have ben off on the
ratios before and it work every time, just try pulling the stick out
of the cup after it hardens. LOL

well I think if you don't put more stress on the joint then what it
is intended for it will be fine.

this is just my thoughts.

KR> Where is everyone.

2008-10-12 Thread Keith and Martha Crawford
well you asked!

I am currently working on my controls. I have the dual sitick about
finished; just need to weld on the elevator control arm and limit
travels. The rudder pedals are ready to be installed. I have the stab
foam all shaped and waiting for warmer weather to do some glassing. I
have the gear drilled but ordered the wrong size bolts - oops. Need
to order the right size.

I have some new pictures on the blog and will have more soon.

The corvair is disassembled and waiting to go to the shop, but that
won't be until next year. I hope to have the fuse completed by fall,
less instruments. I would like to make the gathering 2008 with 0707KC.

I am to that point where I need that 1" x 4" x 1/8" inch 6061, I have
called wicks, airccraft spruce, and all the local venders and
nothing. What do I do next?
I thought about bending my own but wick doesn't have a .125 6061

Hi Peter

I am using dean hinges and I have locked the bolt in position by
gluing them with t88 and flox.
the hime joint mw3 is held in position by the I bolt which I have
also glued in position with nuts and washers of course.

Mr. Jones what's your two cents here?
