KR> Getting off of the list

2011-03-29 Thread Kirk Lacewell
Does anyone know how to get my address off of the KR list?

I have sent two requests to be dropped from the list over the past month
with no response, and I still get mail from the list every day.

Thanks,

KR> Working on KR2S Flight manual

2010-05-15 Thread Kirk Lacewell
I'm working on my flught manual for my KR-2S with the Subaru engine and need
some advice.

The sample manuals I have are both for KR2, not 2S.

How should my airspeeds compare to the KR2? The same, higher lower?

The inspector wants green/yellow and red markings on the tach. Does anoyne have
those numbers for the Subaru engine?

Thanks,

KR> KR-2s Has a gap

2010-04-26 Thread Kirk Lacewell
I'm in the final stage of preparing my KR-2S for inspection. This is a plane I
purchased 95% complete, I didn't do mst of the build.

I am concerned about the gap between the canopy and the body forward of the
canopy. I have a gap all the way across the plane, which is just under 1 inch
at it's widest point.

Is this a common prolem?

Is it a problem at all?

Any recommendations as to how to address it?

A picture is available if it will help, but it wouldn't go to the list.

Thanks,

I hope you got the plans ( blue notebook) with your project. The
measurements are in there and I'll bet you find them before someone
posts them to the net. If not, we'll get them for you but you ought
to have a set of plans anyway.

KR> Certification questions

2010-02-04 Thread Kirk Lacewell
I'm finishing up a KR-2s which I bought 90% completed and need some advice.

The DAR I plan to use has a checklist I need to fill out and it asks for
"Designer recommended limits and this plane's measurements for:"

Aileron up travel/ down travel
Elevator up/down
Rudderr left/right travel.

I can't find the designer recommendations information in my plans book. Can
someone point me to it?

Thanks,

KR> Looking for a student pilot

2009-02-28 Thread Kirk Lacewell
I'm helping a friend in Brazil who is a fellow pilot and free lance magazine
writer with his next article. We are hoping that you can help us find a subject
for his article.

My friend's name is Ruy Flemming. Ruy lives in Sao Paulo and formerly flew with
the Brazillian Air Force's "Smoke Squadron", their version of the Thunderbirds.
He is currently a corporate pilot flying an Augusta helocopter.

Ruy is planning to write an article on young student pilots around the world
and how they view their futures in flying. He has interviewed a Brazillian and
a German and is looking for a young, American student pilot to interview. He is
specifically looking for someone 16 years old.

I wonder if you might know of someone like that who would like to be
interviewed for a Brazillian flying magazine.

If any of you want a copy of my KR for your X-plane you can e-mail me
privately and I will send you the files.

KR> Venturi on a KR2S

2009-02-22 Thread Kirk Lacewell
I've been struggling to find a way to drive my vacuum pump on my KR2S and just
had the thought. Why not forget the pump and use a Venturi?

Anyone know of a good reason not to use a Venturi?

Anyone know of someone using one on a KR?

Thanks,

KR> Pulley assembly for Suburu engine

2009-02-16 Thread Kirk Lacewell
Willie,

I'm just getting into this project and haven't thought about weight yet. The
airplane is basically finished, so I have what I have and will try to make
the best of it.

  Hi Kirk

Don't you think the Subaru will be too heavy when you are finished? I also
have a 80hp model but refitted my Limbach (VW) due to the weight. What is
your Hp?

  Willie

KR> Pulley assembly for Suburu engine

2009-02-14 Thread Kirk Lacewell
I'm trying to cpmplete a KR-2S started by someone else and have run into a
stumbling block.

The Suburu engine runs the generator through a belt drive. There is a second,
smaller pulley mounted flush with the generator drive pulley which drives the
vacuum pump.

This system seems to work, except that the guy who started the plane ground the
center of the pulleys down so far that they wobble terribly.

I need to replace the two pulleys and can not find anything to replace them
with.

My first question is: Does anyone know where I can get pulleys like this? They
both should have 15mm inner diameter. One is 60mm OD and the other is 100mm OD.

Second question: Does anyone have a suggestion for a better system to drive my
generator and vacuum pump?

I have a quote from a local machine shop to custom fabricate a dual pulley
assembly for me for $400, but I'm hoping to avoid that option.

Thanks,
Kirk Lacewell
