Robert,

I'm planning on using the one peice spar as well. I can't seen to get the link
to your webpage going. Can I have the address to your build log/ website.

Thanks,

Curry

KR> CAD wing template

2008-10-12 Thread curry
I'm working on my KR1 new construction and would like to use the 48root/45 tip
airfoil. I was hoping someone may have this on cad so I can have the templates
laser cut. I have found the PDF file but need it in CAD.
Thanks,
Curry

KR> Another paint update.

2008-10-12 Thread curry
Ray...Is Jutan the paint w/ the pinguin on the front? Where is New Orleans are
you ?? I'm right here in Houma !! I also have some corvair stuff that may
interest you as I have decided a Corvair is too large for my KR-1.

KR> KR-1 tail group--To Airfoil or Not to airfoil ?

2008-10-12 Thread curry
After wicks called and said "Your lead time will be four weeks." I decided to
start on the tail group to pass the time. My plans show the 5/8 square "tip
rib" on the horizontal & vert stab...which is the way most Krs are looking when
I check out the pictures everywhere. Langford redesigned his tail because he
didn't stretch his fuse and wanted more pitch stability..I HAVE stretched
my fuse 10" so can I just use the stock setup like most people? Or should I
also do the tail mod ?

Well that's it !!! Built a table, recieved my plans, ordered from wicks,
bought some clamps and a laser level..no more dreamin'...time for building

KR> Richard Shirley's gear.

2008-10-12 Thread curry
Thanks for the reply...so he is using a one piece design thenI noticed his
gear look to be mounted forward of the spar ( or so it looks). I would like to
incorporate the design into my KR1. I'm also thinking of doing the one piece
laminated capstrip spar as mentioned by Langford. This will prohibit me from
removing my wings but the span is only 17ft. The upside is easy building and
strength with none of the stub wing fuel tank issues.

KR> A little more flying,N357CJ, 3100cc

2008-10-12 Thread curry
Wow that's great...reading the stories of you guys that are flying is really
nice...I'm just starting on building but all the advice and web sites are
making it easier on guys like myself. How many flight hours did you have
before getting in a KR ??

How many flight hours did you guys have before trying out a KR ?? I'm a
student pilot wondering what it takes to tame one of these things..

KR> KR-1 cabin width

2008-10-12 Thread curry
There is a lot of talk about how narrow this cockpit is but when I look at the
plans I'm seeing a 38.75 fuse width. Am I missing something? Anyone know what
gear Richard Shirly has on his KR1 ?

Thanks,
Curry

KR> KR-1 cabin width

2008-10-12 Thread curry
H gggeeeupon looking at my plans again I have noted I was
adding the top and bottem length together.KR-1 plans are a bit
lacking...indeed the width is 19
I never knew what kit plane I wanted until i saw Richards..that thing is double
sweetwhat kind of engine is he installing ?
Anyone running the new airfoils on a KR1? I would guess they would work just as
well on a shorter wing..any opinions ??

2008-10-12 Thread curry
I have a Corvair but I'm thinking I want a KR1..It seems like a
overkill...should I be looking at a VW ? Anyone know the weight difference
between the 2 ? thanks.
