KR> Attn Pete from TN that flew to Kr Gathering 2010

2010-11-05 Thread Andy Mckevitz
...or anyone else that can lend advice to me.  I'm Andy, that guy whos trying
to buy a flying KR.

Pete said hes not on the internet [no web page].  Does anyone know his email?
I'd like to ask him how he got his plane's airworthiness certificate, which
will help me do the same thing.

I want to buy Ron's KR2 in MD, currently on barnstormers.  Call it the
'squiggly red/wht one'.  It does not have the DAR signoff yet or N number.
I've never done this before and I know the plane can be approved 'by
pre-assembled parts' or some guideline due to missing build logs.  How can I
best do this and get another KR in the air?

I've asked my local eaa chapter about this and decided to post here as well.

I'm guessing he is alive and well as he cashed the check a week or so
ago for the official Gathering funds that I forwarded to him. I'm
guessing your e-mail will prompt a response. After 20 years of
attending Gatherings and six years of hosting, this will be the first
Gathering I will get to fly my KR to and bask in the
shade. YE HAAA..

Netters, I am concerned about Dana. I wrote to him over a week ago, and he
has not responded. He has also not posted anything about this year's KR
Gathering. It is not like him to not communicate. If there is someone who
lives near him, could you find out if he is OK?

Thanks,

KR> Gathering 2010

2009-06-11 Thread Gerald Pryce

I guess I need to clarify... A lot of folks, including my own son, appear to
have taken my post as suggesting Salina, KS as a venue for the fly-in.  I was
merely listing Salina as the "farthest West that the fly-in has been held".
Salina is slighly farther West than Perry, OK.

In fact I now live in Independence, OR in an airpark (7S5) and would be
hard-pressed to host a fly-in in Salina anyway.  As an aside, our airport and
EAA chapter has hosted the RV fly-in for the past 2 years and will host it
again this August.  Perhaps we CAN think about a West coast gathering of KR's
in the near future.  I would be open to this possibility.  I hope to see you
all in Mt. Vernon this year.

Regards,

Jerry Pryce

KR gathering in Salina, Ks.

I am from Salina and it is a heavy use airport. Cards need to be carried to
enter or leave the airport. It has 4 runways but is a no-nonsense field,
controllers are strict on traffic procedures.
No one pulls a plane out of his hanger here unless he is leaving the area
and flying to other locations. I wish it were more like the old days but
life and times change.

How about Salina, KS?  The first KR Fly-in was held there in Aug of 1984.
"Ole Blue" was there.  I flew up from Altus, OK with my wife who was 8 months
pregnant.  The son she was carrying, now wants to build a KR; coincidence?  I
think not!

I'd say Perry, Oklahoma.  I traveled ten hours by car to get there one
year and 4.5 hours in the Tripacer the next year.

KR> KR gathering 2010

2009-06-09 Thread vr6chri...@yahoo.com
I would like to go to where my father suggested. It would be cool to see where
the first gathering was and meet everybody.

I guess this would be a good time to introduce myself. I got interested in KRs
from my dad and as he said I went to the first gathering when I was in the
womb. I plan to start building a KR2S with a corvair when I return from Iraq in
December. I've been lurking on this list for a few months to learn as much as I
can.

I've already had the pleasure of meeting William Wynne, Joe Horton, Bill Clapp
and some other people at SNF 2009. William was nice enough to give me a
conversion manual for free because I am in the air force. If you would like to
put a face to the name, I'm the guy holding the conversion manual while William
is pointing at my VW shirt on flycorvair.com under at the hanger April 2009.

Hopefully this message doesn't look all messed up as I am typing it on my
blackberry.

I look forward to meeting you all if I can make it to the next gathering and
I'd like to thank you all for everything I've learned already from this list.

what happened to Marty's KR after it was sold?

I am surprised that some of our KR family got upset about the quick
rejection of locations at the far corners of the country, but I do
understand it. I too would have liked to host a Gathering, but I know that
we live at one of those extremes. I would really like to get farther out
West for a Gathering before my time is up. What is the farthest West
location that the Gathering has ever been held. The farthest one that I
have been to was Covington, TN.
