Thanks John for all the photos and posting for our viewing.  Here is a
larger image of Zach's efforts for those that haven't found it yet.

My guess is that was done over 10 to 15 miles of sky.  I built that KR
but Zach taught it how to write. 🙂

Chris did an even larger one several years ago that I'd ask him to post
and the inspiration for doing it.

I posted the Gathering photos web page online to krgathering.net
this morning. Use the left-side link to go to
[Past Gatherings] and then to [2024 KR Gathering].

When you browse the photos, be sure you make it down towards the bottom of
the page. There is a hidden nugget image. Zach got up early on Saturday for
90 minutes of yanking and banking creating some skywriting to commemorate
the event. It's worth the time to see! We've never had something quite that
special drawn in the air before.

Thank you to everyone who made the event special. If you have photos you
want to share on the web page, please send them directly to my personal
email address below and NOT to this mailing list!

KR> Gathering web page "days till Gathering"

2016-04-24 Thread Mark Jones
Also please take note that the countdown days to the Gathering are not
correct as the web page says "132 days till the 2016 Gathering" . It is
actually 144 days till Sept 16th. The countdown clock on the web page needs
to be reset.

available. Trust me on the hats and shirts or wait a couple of weeks
to register when I will have more info and photos.

Check out the various links and see what's there. Thanks Bob !!

I'd ask "how many days till the Gathering?" but I guess we can wait
until after the first of the year to start the countdown.

I presently have orders for about 40 to 45 hats and I'm having 65
made so you can speak for one now or take your chances at the
Gathering. I can get more if there is enough interest.

I think I mentioned earlier that the shirts would also be navy in color
but I changed that to grey with the stitching on the logo in navy to
match the hats and the red KR with the white comet tail. I've
already gotten orders for 100+ shirts and I'm having 120 made.
I'll hold the stock for those that have requested
shirts and hats until Saturday noon. If not picked up by then they
will go on public sale. The shirts have a pocket and collar and I
think you'll like them. I'll post a picture when I get them.

Jim Faughn is working on a song I wrote for the KR builders / fliers
wives to be performed at the Saturday night awards banquet. How
many days???

Oscar and Netters,

For those that are not aware or don't recall, Bob Lee is maintaining
the KR Gathering web page and deserves a big THANK YOU.

The weather links are all under the airport info link. Flight planning
links and/or map quest links might be a nice addition and I'll use
this post to pass that request along ot Bob. How about it webmaster?

The only thing I can say about the counter is it's not counting.

Indeed he does, as do you for hosting the event. It's a lot of work.

>The only thing I can say about the counter is it's not counting.

Oh, but it is! It says I'm Number One! It's just not incrementing, that's
all ;o)

And just to contribute something KR-ish, it seems like only yesterday but it
was a few short years ago (1999? 2000?) that Paul Martin completed
conversion of his taildragger KR2 to tri-gear and started taxi tests on it.
What fun! After seeing Paul's plane with its guts ripped out, cowling, fuel
tank, instrument panel, engine, lots of other things dismantled and in
boxes, holes cut open here and there, filled and sanded/primered splotches
all over... I never thought it would fly again but it did. Those of you who
have your airplanes in pieces or wingless or engineless, take hope! We
watched Paul taxi the little KR behind its 1835 VW and eventually fly, carry
passengers (me, for one), make cross-countries, and have a ball. Never the
prettiest bird on the field but sort of like an older sports car, lots of
fun to fly. It CAN be done!

Larry,

Hope things are going well for you. Just saw the web page and sure on
the entertainment. I just got a new "head" for my PA system. It's too
cool with 250 watts per side.

I'm playing 3 sets tonight at the Dove Café near me in a shameless self
promotion to my friends in the area. I expect about 40-60 people there
and it holds about 40.. Anyway, should be fun.

I have a box of some stuff for you from Linda, some clipboards and other
odds and ends. We'll catch up this spring.

Netters,

With a great big THANK YOU to Bob Lee, we now have an
offical Gathering web page. Check it out at

www.krgathering.org

If you book at the Holiday Inn, make sure you tell them
you are attending the KR Gathering to get the reduced
rate.

Please take the time to fill out the "pre-registration" form
so we will have advanced info for planning. It was made as easy as
possible with most information just requiring a click of the mouse
button. This should help to make the Gathering
a success and as educational as possible for everyone attending.
That also makes for everyone having a GOOD TIME !!! Check
back on a regular basis as the site will be continually updated with
information on the Gathering schedule as plans are made.

Thanks in advance and SEE YOU IN MT.VERNON
