KR> KR-2 project for sale - reskinning
Original Message What would be a good procedure for removing existing fuselage skin and leave surfaces good for applying new skin? If you must remove the skin, try using a steam iron. let it set on the first part of the area you want to remove and when it gets real hot, just use a wedge to lift the plywood up and slip a sheet of paper between the longeron and the skin. Continue doing this until all the skin is removed. I used this method to remove a skin that was installed wrong, it worked very well Patrick Driscoll Saint Paul, MN patric...@usfamily.net If you can read this, Thank a teacher If you are reading this in English, thank a veteran

-Original Message- What would be a good procedure for removing existing fuselage skin and leave surfaces good for applying new skin? END I would cut the ply out between the 5/8" spruce and then use a Dotco type grinder to get is close. Maybe use a block sander with about a 36 - 60 grit to take the remaining material off. If there is a little glue left over it will be ok as T-88 will bond just fine. The sides actually are not all that bad. I think they can be cleaned up well enough. The bottom was the real problem.
