KR> Next year gathering
McMinnville, Oregon. Sounded very good with camping just across the road from the airport for the outdoorzie types. Colin won longest flight to the gathering and firewall forward. Jeff won paint or panel and best KR. Richard Shirley won Peoples Choice, as well he should. I had a long conversation with Colin and just that was worth making the trip. Itch these and The workshops were a big hit. Steve did a great job with these and the entire gathering. Another big part of this for me, was meeting all those KR PEOPLE that I have not met before, and, of course, getting together with my KR family again, and it was a sad reminder of those who are not with us anymore like Steve Jones and Bob Lee. I took a lot of pics which I will post when I get home. > On Sep 6, 2014, at 11:03 PM, Paul Visk via KRnet > wrote: > > KMMV > > > Paul Visk > Belleville Il > 618 406 4705 > > Sent on the new Sprint Network from my Samsung Galaxy S?4. > ___ > Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search. > To UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet-leave at list.krnet.org > please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html > see http://list.krnet.org/mailman/listinfo/krnet_list.krnet.org to change > options

OK. Cant let sleeping dogs lie. Tonight I go out to Shadetree Airport to make arrangements to finish up my tail wheel training. I already have 7 hours in a 140, so it shouldn't take that much longer. They have a WagAero Sport trainer out there and have offered to help me finish up. Nice Grass strip too! After that I will have all I need to get serious about my KR (famous last words) -- Glenn Martin, KR2 N1333A, Biloxi, MS
KR> Next year's gathering location
Normally it seems that around this time there is jockeying to determine where next years gathering will be. It is always interesting to see the comments yet I have seen nothing yet. Is this a deliberate attempt to deprive me of the pleasure of reading those posts? Ron Lee

I'm ASSUMING that Wayne Williams (hope I got his name right) will be inviting us to Mississippi next year but nothing offical yet. Yes, I am preparing the ammunition and Wayne is getting all the particulars about travel, lodging, and camping. This is going to be a great place for a gathering. Look for the brochure on your table at the banquet. As most of you know, we have been promoting this location for the last 2 years and Wayne and I have been in communication about it. It is going to be hard to get any better than Mt. Vernon, but I am sure Wayne will give his best shot, if you vote to go there, and I will do all that I can to help him with it. See you in Mt. Hay all encountered a situation upon inspection after a hard landing, the tail spring had bent about 30 degrees so I machined a new spring that was twice as wide and an 8th inch thicker (overkill?), well I did not want to do this again. The good news is that I gained quite a bit of turn radius (I can pivot on my wing tips) and I installed a rubber noise damper so the tail wheel noise is significantly reduced. I also gained about 1 inch of runway view on roll up. It does not spring as much on touch down but I think that is also a plus, the bird seems to settle faster. Well that solved I filled her up and took to the air only to have loss of rpm's on the the forth downwind. mixture meter lean, fuel pressure low . Ok so I pulled the filter, clean. Did several static tests, normal. Replaced the cowling and taxied out. Run up, normal. again at about downwind I get rough running and rpm's at no more than 2500 mixture now reads rich, fuel pressure high(5.8).When I started the bird several days later she ran fine until downwind. Am thinking that do to the added heat in cowling (exhaust wrap removed for cabin heat), I might be getting vapor lock. Any comments; ideas; experience; or suggestions very welcome. thanks in advance. Aviation Mech wrote: Red Oak--- I did not get the KR in the air as early as I had planed, and the storm front will be moving between Red Oak and Michigan this weekend. So, I have elected to not make the trip. I will be canceling my reservations at the Red Coach Inn tonight. I do wish that Those who attend could vote to hold the event earlier in the season. This time of year always has weather issues. Here in S. E. Michigan today and tomorrow will be thick fog Orma, Congratulations. We voted to go to Mt. Vernon, hosted by our own Larry Fleshner. We don't get to vote on the date. I fully agree with you, the weather is always a factor at this time of year. I started talking this up 2 years ago and we got it changed to 2 weeks earlier this year. I would like to see it much earlier when the weather patterns are more benign and we can get more KRs to the gathering. I think that if people who actually have flying KRs will make their wishes known, this may be a strong factor toward getting it at a better time of the year. KR>Next Wave
I'm glad to hear that there is a new wave of high horsepower KR's due next year. That's great. You can add mine to the list, but it's only a ripple instead of a wave. N303JV is a standard length KR-2 with the new wing, powered by a Great Plains 1835 cc VW. I was too quick to decide on something standard and simple (hindsight is always 20-20). I'll bring brag pictures to Red Oak. See you there. Jim Vance va...@claflinwildcats.com

Don't feel too bad. If your GPASC engine was "factory built" by GPASC, at least you can get hull insurance. That's not something us Corvair guys can do yet, although there is a move afoot to prove that the Vair is a safe, reliable engine...
