More importantly, it's a Hirth put it in a snowmobile or something, don't fly behind. Bob It should work well. My first KR was built with a stock 1800cc VW and I wager that the actual horsepower of that really was in the 45HP range. Some of the early Volksplanes were operating on 35-45 HP. The Hirth is likely 40 lbs lighter (guess). You could/should move the engine out further from the firewall. I do not know what the weight of a "standard" KR2S is averaging. KEEP IT LIGHT! EXPERIMENT!! pAT -Original Message- From: Robert Boyd Sent: Monday, April 07, 2014 7:26 AM To: krnet at list.krnet.org Subject: KR> min hp Hey guys, what is the minimum horse power for the standard KR2S? Most KR2S's are coming in around 700+ pounds. 55 hp would give you a very under performing single place airplane. I would consider 85 hp to be the minimum for a light KR2S with a "light weight" (under 200 pounds) pilot. Larry Flesner
