Craig, boy am I glad to hear that I'm not the only one determined to go the LSA route. My spars are done so my thoughts are to make up a few more WAFs and a couple of 18" spars. I did receive some great advice from Mark L. One of which is to not call it anything but a KR which is good advice. The FAA knows the KR specs too well. I'm leaning towards "The Bennett Special" for he is the original owner/builder who put so much into it. Oh we'll keep building everyone and remember, If lift>weight and thrust> drag then "IT SHOULD FLY" Bob in Frazeysburg Oh Sent from my iPhone On Sep 21, 2013, at 3:53, Craig Williams wrote: > I am doing that but all my increase is from new laminated center spars. Bob wrote: "I did receive some great advice from Mark L. One of which is to not call it anything but a KR which is good advice. The FAA knows the KR specs too well." I don't think what Bob meant to say is ..."advice is NOT to call it a KR". If the specs are published then the FAA is likely to go with those numbers, which don't fit into LSA. You could argue that you stretched the wings and beefed the spars and all kinds of stuff, but avoiding the issue entirely with your "own design" would likely streamline the process. I am doing that but all my increase is from new laminated center spars.? I added? 36" total.? Determined to make it an LSA so I don't have to sell it when I get old. The wing skins available add about 20" ??? to the wing span Check them out and see how it is done, Virg On 9/20/2013 10:42 AM, Pat and Robin Russo wrote: > Virg > The spars are done but not the foam work. The Diehl Wing Skins use a plyfoam false spar extension to extend the wing 18" on either side. ?If you put the same or better structural integrety or equivilent structure into your wing skins as what is in the Dielh Skins, you should be good to go. ?But please note that just glassing over foam is not the same structure as the Diehl wing skins, so you will likely need to do some design work. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM ? > - Original Message - > From: Pat and Robin Russo > Sent: 09/20/13 08:42 AM > To: KRnet > Subject: Re: KR> wing length > > Virg > The spars are done but not the foam work. Virg The spars are done but not the foam work. Wing skins? Are you referring to the store bought variety? Can I simply add spar extenders and skin the whole as one? I am looking to add 18" to 22". -Original Message- From: Virgil N.Salisbury Sent: Friday, September 20, 2013 9:17 AM To: KRnet Subject: Re: KR> wing length Would not recommend any longer except with the wing skins, Virg On 9/20/2013 9:10 AM, Pat and Robin Russo wrote: > > > I would like to increase wing length but standard KR spars are already > done.
