KRnetHeads, Today Larry Flesner and I flew into the "First Annual Wicks Forum", an open house that featured some great speakers and a tour of the organ factory. Speakers like Rod Hightower (the new EAA president) and Mark Cook, Kitplanes editor, among others. I really like Hightower...I think he's asking the right questions and planning to do the right things. It occured to me that I should have sent out a reminder late in the week to fill up a few of the empty tables. I'll do my best to do a web page on the experience by tomorrow night, but for now check out this picture of Larry flying early this morning over Illinois. Gathering attendees, I just spoke with Scott Wick of Wick's Aircraft and he has committed to deliver orders to the Gathering on Saturday, the 19th. The cutoff for orders delivered to the Gathering will be Thursday, Sept 17th, at 5:00PM. He will also be bringing catalogs for anyone that needs or wants one. Good chance for you to save shipping cost and especially the cost of shipping any "haz-mat" items. Larry Flesner

If so please contact me off net. Quite often Scott Wick or somebody from there will make a run over to the Gathering bringing hard-to-ship orders over in a truck. I'm not sure this has been addressed, but if you'll call Wicks and ask to speak to Scott, I'll bet that's about all it would take to get him to show up and bring catalogs, spars caps, whatever. Shipping becomes free at that point. I'd like to spend a few minutes with Scott myself...just to bend his ear about how pathetic their online ordering system is...once again... KR> Wicks
I apologize for sending this to everyone, but my reply to the original post didn't go through. I've only dealt with Wicks once, when I picked up my original purchase quite a few years ago. We were on vacation, and included a tour of the organ factory (I'm an organist) as well as the purchase of the spruce for the boat. We were treated very well, the wood and other items I wanted were loaded on and in the car, and all was as specified and of excellent quality. That was quite a few years ago, but from what I've seen on this list from others, things haven't changed any. My suggestion to anyone who has a problem, or even a question, would be to call then and explain the situation. I suspect that Wicks will do everything they can to make sure that they have satisfied customers. If you go to their home page, http://www.wicks.com/ you will see that they now have three divisions, and the aircraft one is at the top, above the organs. I wonder if that's where they are making their money these days? -- 73, David, kb0zke EM37ju Rev. 2:10c

I went to Wicks Tuesday to pick up supplies for my KR but didn't check the sack they put stuff in. I opened it yesterday to find that a lot of stuff was missing. KR> Wicks vs Aircraft Spruce & Specialty's Service
On 4/15/06 I purchased the T-88 Redimix gun kit because it looked like a great way to mix T-88 reliably and easily. I like it and it works great. However, when I recently went to purchase replacement cartridges for it, AS told me they no longer carry it and I should contact the vendor. WHen I told them I just paid them $50 for the gun 90 days ago, they had no reply other than I should contact the vendor. I called Wicks Aircraft. They had the cartridges. They shipped them right out. I called them back and thanked them and ordered more material for my project. Not bad-mouthing anyone here, but service is what distinguishes one business from another, and based on the way I was treated by Wicks, I'll be doing business with them from now on. If AS is listening, if I wanted to do business with the vendor, I would have bought the gun from the vendor in the first place. Anybody here have smilar experiences, or am I just rushing to judge this company? I'll maintain an open mind to all input from the fine members here. __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! This structure is what holds your engine to the plane and handles the torsional stresses of the engine and tail section and no doubt a whole lot of other critical functions that I, and probably you, have no clue about. I know that there is no way that I would bet everything that my "guess" was right, no matter what kind of cloth was used. I find it hard to believe that the properties of glass and wood are similar enough that they can just be "swapped" out without some serious engineering and testing. If you plan to do that engineering and testing, then you need to choose the cloth to do it with. See N64KR at http://KRBuilder.org - Then click on the pics See you in Mt.
