Maybe I'll say something stupid, but if I record well, there's a way to tell debconf to use a Qt interface with somethinglike dpkg-reconfigure debconf. I've done a switch user leaving mine open, and then back to mine, after some seconds computer crashed at all with a black screen and some artifact!
