[Bug 74351] Re: VPN connections configure dialog doesn't work

2007-05-13 Thread Jeff Trull
I installed network-manager-gnome and it did *not* solve my issue - I
now have a nice applet that appears to help me configure my VPN, but any
networks I add through the Create VPN Connection wizard never stick -
I complete the configuration steps, review the results, hit finish and
there's nothing listed, and no error indicating why the previously
defined connection is gone.

network-manager, network-manager-gnome, and network-manager-pptp are all
installed and up to date.

~/.xsession-errors shows some strange errors while I'm using this
applet, e.g.:

/bin/sh: /usr/bin/esd: not found
and
** (nm-vpn-properties:5889): CRITICAL **: vpnui_opt_connect_signals: assertion
`opt-widget!=NULL' failed
and
(nm-vpn-properties:5889): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion
`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

[Bug 114510] [feisty] no error show to user when X server (re-)start fails

2007-05-13 Thread Eero Tamminen
Public bug reported:

Version:
- Kubuntu: Feisty Fawn 7.04
- kdm: 3.5.6-0ubuntu2

Test-case:
- Make an error in xorg.conf
- Restart X server from KDM

Expected outcome:
- old-timers: user is returned back to console
- all: they get an error message that tells X server couldn't start

Actual outcome:
- Screen flickers from KDM to the bootup logo. There's no explanation why.
(One can see it from the X log only, so it took a while from me to understand
what had happened)

When there's a grave error, either the actual error messages from the
failing thing or some other more end-user friend error message (X
window system could be (re-)started) should be shown. As X doesn't
start, the error message needs to be shown on console (maybe in red
below the bootup logo...).

[Bug 114511] [feisty] kde logout takes ages, when arts fails to run

2007-05-13 Thread Eero Tamminen
Public bug reported:

Version:
- Kubuntu: Feisty Fawn 7.04

Test-case:
1. Change a setting in the System Settings - Sound System - Hardware
2. Apply the change
3. Change the setting back and apply again
4. Log out

Actual outcome:
- In step 2) arts failed
- In step 3) arts failed again(!)
- Logout takes ~1/2 minute without any user feedback about anything happending
after pressing the log out button

This was the first time I had used the sound settings after installing
Kubuntu. After fiddling with things and wondering about why logging in
out takes so long, arts suddenly begun to start without problems and
then logout came 20x faster.

Some non-essential service missing shouldn't make logout to take ages.

[Bug 107059] Re: kwin crashes after minimise all windows and run new application

2007-05-13 Thread alfonx
Confirming this for my Feisty on a Thinkpad Z61m. I didn't find a pattern yet,
but it crashes often! The launchpad bugreport tool is never started for this
bug.. thats why i only report it now.
My kwin crashes about 30% of the time after i pressed my keyboard-shortcut
win-d (- show desktop) twice (e.g. checking superkaramba).

[Bug 58617] Re: mp3 installation script crashes and/or hangs

2007-05-13 Thread B2DNZ
Hi Guys

I have (actually) had the same issue on Feisty x86. The install Mp3
support prompt would crash. As suggested I installed libxine-
extracodecs from synaptic package manager and upon restarting Amarok
the files started playing fine. Hope that helps for those.
