[Bug 126550] Currupted data on usb key after unmounting

2007-07-17 Thread Gianfranco Liporace
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

System: Kubuntu Gutsy with today updates.

I've recently buyed 2 usb keys, both of 1GB capacity. After copied some data
and unmounted them, both of two keys resulted in corrupted content.
Tried with an old 256MB key and resulted in no problem at all.
A note: after the umounting dialog has gone lights on both of two keys keep
blinking.

[Bug 126673] Kvoctrain can't make sense of comma-separated words

2007-07-17 Thread Robert Persson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kvoctrain

kvoctrain demands all possible meanings for a word, comma-separated and
only in the particular order that they are stored within the vocabulary
file. This is counterintuitive and frustrating to the point of making
the program next to unusable.

For instance, say I choose to download and use the KDE English-German
vocabulary, kvoctrain might ask me the German for east. If I simply
enter der Osten, it will tell me I'm wrong. What it tells me it wants
is der Osten, östlich. I suppose that's fair enough, although it would
be a lot better if it could distinguish between noun and adjective
homonyms and only expect one answer at a time. However if I instead
enter östlich, der Osten, it will still tell me I'm wrong. This is
like saying that 2 x 3 does not equal 3 x 2

[Bug 63518] Re: wrong resolution with Intel 915GM; 915resolution is ineffective; restarting gdm required every time

2007-07-17 Thread Bryce Harrington
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 3731 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/3731

Hi Lutz,

This is a long-known issue (bug 3731). There are several ways you can
work around it, however:

1. Remove your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, and allow Xorg to autodetect
everything.

   # mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.myorig
   # reboot

In the future, we plan to do something like this, to allow Xorg to
handle autodetection.

2. Run 'displayconfig-gtk' to select your monitor and video card.

This is the fallback solution we plan to use in the future. It
requires that you know both the monitor and video card, and that both
are also listed in our databases.

3. Specify your monitor's exact refresh rates in xorg.conf

Section Monitor
Identifier Standardbildschirm
Option DPMS
HorizSync specify horizontal sync
VertRefresh specify vertical refresh
EndSection

4. In xorg.conf, remove the refresh rates:

Section Monitor
Identifier Standardbildschirm
Option DPMS
EndSection

[Bug 14542] Re: via doesn't support amd64

2007-07-17 Thread kernco
This still doesn't seem fixed for me. I have the k8m800 on my laptop
(Averatec 2260-EK1) and I have installed Ubuntu 7.04 64-bit. By
default, it is configured to use the vesa driver, and if I edit my
xorg.conf to change it to via, X fails to start with the No devices
detected error message.
