[Bug 1388538] Re: Ark fails to produce zip archive instead making gzip with the zip suffix

2014-11-03 Thread Sam Rog
The 'use_libarchive_for_zip_files' is coming from the Debian:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=748198

The Utopic Ark has been merged with the Debian:
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/a/ark/ark_4.14.1-0ubuntu1/changelog
:

ark (4:4.13.2-0ubuntu1) utopic; urgency=medium

  [ Rohan Garg ]
  * Merge with debian, no remaining changes

The Trusty Ark has not merged with the Debian:
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/a/ark/ark_4.13.3-0ubuntu0.1/changelog

So it doesn't have the patch 'use_libarchive_for_zip_files'

[Bug 668748] Re: Unable to contact time server

2014-11-03 Thread Juan Navarro
4 years later and it's still impossible to enable the automatic update
of date and time; who is the maintainer of the Date Time module in
KDE?

Synthoms are the same as described above: just selecting any of the
preconfigured servers (such as europe.pool.ntp.org) will show the
message Unable to contact time server: europe.pool.ntp.org when
clicking on Apply.

Is there anything we can do until a proper fix arrives to Kubuntu-ppa
repositories to alleviate the issue?

Indeed. I thought that lightdm couldn't be used with plasma 5, for whatever
reason, I guess I was just wrong. Thanks.

[Bug 1378789] Re: [SRU] Set the default IO scheduler to CFQ in Kubuntu Trusty

2014-11-03 Thread Jonathan Riddell
Steve also asked for some testing with Ubuntu Unity:

 - installing an Ubuntu precise desktop with unity7 (which I believe was the
last release using cfq by default) and the .0 kernel (3.2.0)
 - using the system for a bit to try to reproduce the original problem -
application windows becoming grayed out by the WM under normal usage,
indicating that the app is not responding
 - changing the scheduler to deadline and testing to see if the problem
   persists or resolves itself
 - upgrading to the trusty backport kernel (linux-image-generic-lts-trusty)
 - verifying that the desktop behaves correctly with the default deadline
   scheduler
 - changing the scheduler to cfq and testing whether the original problem
   recurs

although I feel this should be done by the Ubuntu Unity team, there's no
reason why Kubuntu should have to spend resources on the fallout from
their bugs
