[Bug 1455323] Re: Regression in KDE5 desktop session save / restore

2015-11-09 Thread Kristian Andreas Vaksdal
I still have this issue, but it varies from application to application.
Konsole is the most problematic. When logging in, KDE remembers which
workspace I was on, and remembers all the instances of Konsole in the
session, but puts all those konsoles at the active workspace (so I have
to manuall spread them around to their intended workspaces). Loggin out
and back in, and the konsoles are once again gathered at one workspace
(the first one displayed). Some other apps works as intended: Deluge-gtk
opens at another workspace, the correct (remembered) one. Kmail,
however, doesn't restore fully, just as a letter icon in the indicator
bar.

[Bug 1514651] [NEW] KDE applications have graphical problems while running Java applications

2015-11-09 Thread Agash85
Public bug reported:

System: Kubuntu 14.04 LTS
Java: OpenJDK 7-JRE

On October 28th was released an update for openjdk-7-jre.

>From /var/log/apt/
$ zcat history.log.1.gz

Start-Date: 2015-10-28 21:43:51
Install: openjdk-7-jre-headless:amd64 (7u79-2.5.6-0ubuntu1.14.04.1,
7u85-2.6.1-5ubuntu0.14.04.1), openjdk-7-jre:amd64 (7u79-2.5.6-0ubuntu1.14.04.1,
7u85-2.6.1-5ubuntu0.14.04.1)

Since this update KDE Plasma/KDE Apps have massive graphical problems,
when at the same time is running a Java application.

To reproduce the problem:
1. Start a Java application, like JDownloader or TV-Browser
2. Wait 1 or 2 minutes or sometimes: do an action in the Java application
3. Open any KDE App, like Dolphin or Konsole/Terminal
4. Let the magic begin and now any KDE App looks like the attachment.

This problem is a known issue at KDE-bugs
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=350976). Other distributions have
this problem since august. In Kubuntu 14.04 since update on October
28th.

Recommended solution is to install OpenJDK 8. Unfortunately in (K)Ubuntu
14.04 is only OpenJDK 7 available.

This is a massive bug, because KDE Apps are unusable while Java is
running.

[Bug 1514491] [NEW] kubuntu desktop inconsistency and integration issues: scrollbars. gtk3 button placement also not integrated

2015-11-09 Thread Jonathan Joseph Chiarella
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu desktop inconsistency and integration issues: scrollbar

KDE Plasma does not use overlay scrollbars, but rather solid scrollbars.
GTK3's default is to set all gtk3 main app windows and gtk3 dialog
windows to use overlay scrollbars. Yet Gtk2 and Qt4 and Qt5 apps are
otherwise fully integrated. Much like xubuntu, it would be sensible to
disable gtk3 overlay scrollbars in the global settings.

KDE Plasma is also unable to integrate gtk3 apps in terms of button
placement.

The Qt/KDE order is CONFIRM in center, with CANCEL on the right. GTK2
apps obey this and adapt for the environment, but gtk3 apps do not obey
this.

The latter issue is possibly a deeper issue with GTK3 and/or Q5 and/or
kde plasma. The former issue is an environment setting (scriptable?).

The various Ubuntu flavours are great for being the best showcases of
mate/xfce/kde and gnome is getting there. While application choices and
selective patching of ui in some apps are not universal, the
environments themselves and integration is great. Just reporting this to
see this get to that 100% mark in quality.

Gtk3 csd apps (see menulibre as one that is not Unity-ified) also lack
shadows and corners are off, but better than the boxed bizarreness of
simple upstream distros like Arch.
