Haveing the same problem on kubuntu 15.10 Mail is usually not delted on an imap server, it is only *marked* as deleted, and wll be permanently erased when the server receives a "EXPUNGE" command. the akonadi imap connector and / or kmal2 have 2 problems: 1. it does no longer send EXPUNGE if the imap server is a Courier server it seems ( for me it works on my Dovecot account but not on the Courier), this can be verified by enabling imap debuging and restarting akonadi. connecting to a Courier server and delteing or moving a mail vill show that no EXPUNGE commands are sent, while trying on a Dovecot EXPUNGE is sent all over the place. 2. Kmail does not fully respect the imap Deleted flag and therfoer still handles deleted mail, even though it does know that the mail is deleted since it is greying it out, but, if anny scripts are running (spam filtering, rules to move mail etc) the script engine will stil act on deleted mail as if it was normal, and try to act on it ie moving, deleting etc. Since both moving and deleting is actuall a copy / delete operation this wil go on for ever filling up trashcans and spam folders etc. One work around is to use another mail client (webmail, thunderbird etc) that actually issues EXPUNGE, det not so good part is that one needs to go through all folders that have "deleted" mail, and the problem will reaper the moment one uses Kmal to delte or move a mail. @bartek You are right, it works for Firefox. But not for apps created with Qt4, GTK2 and GTK3. The reason is Firefox (XUL?) grabs only the mouse pointer and not the keyboard when displaying a context menu. While the rest of the above grab both mouse and keyboard, thus overriding separate keyboard grabs for the shortcuts. So, to fix this issue we would need to modify Qt (maybe already fixed in Qt5?) and GTK not to unnecessarily (?) grab the keyboard when displaying menus. Please find the 'grabtest' program in the attachment. It checks whether mouse and/or keyboard are already grabbed. Comilation: gcc -lX11 grabtest.c -o grabtest Test: Run "sleep 3 && ./grabtest" and quickly open a context menu Results: 1) no context menu: MOUSE GRAB SUCCEEDED KEYBOARD GRAB SUCCEEDED 2) Firefox context menu: MOUSE GRAB FAILED, already grabbed? Maybe I'm not an expert, but If its a limitation of X protocol, then why bug doesn't occur in firefox? It also work under X Let me explain. When you activate popup (try right button menu) and then try any shortcut. In firefox popup will be simply closed and shortcut will be executed. 20freaking15 (that's two years and 3 months and after the start of this thread) and this bug is still happening. My windows are still going under the panel on KDE 5.4. Man, I left KDE in favor of gnomeshell 3 years ago because of stuff like this. It's 2015, I really wanted to give KDE a chance but your stuff is so unstable. I like KDE more then Gnome but in the month I've used KDE, I've had more bugs then I had in the last 3 years of using Gnome Shell and I started using Gnome Shell because KDE was unstable 3 years ago at 4. Guys, stop adding new features in KDE and iron out those bugs instead. The value you add by putting these new features get negated by all the bugs that aren't being addressed. This bug isn't even the worst example of old bugs completely unresolved, I got bugs on my 2015 distro that I've found bug reports from 2011.
