[Bug 1446865]
(In reply to Thomas Lübking from comment #57) > Firefox or cairo-dock were certainly not targetted or affected by the > related patches. I did some more testing, and indeed Qt apps (or at least most of them) seem to get restored properly now. The following get restored: - Dolphin - Konversation - Konsole - Ksysguard - KDE system settings The following do NOT get restored: - Firefox - Google Chrome - VLC Media Player - Cairo-Dock Isn't Chrome using Qt tho? I don't know. And I have no idea what may lie beneath this issue, I'm just a noob and all I can do is telling what I experience. I have another issue which may be related, but the two are spanning across different time frames so it doesn't seem likely. This issue is shutdown being halt with "A stop job is running for session c2 of user" with a 1:30 timeout counter. However, session restore was broken ever since I use Plasma/KDE 5, which is more than a year I think, while this issue only started 1-2 months ago. Also, the "stop job is running" issue appears randomly, while session restore always failed consistently. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1446865 Title: KDE5/Qt5 does not support session restoration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdebase-workspace/+bug/1446865/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

(In reply to Storm Engineer from comment #58) > The following do NOT get restored: > - Firefox https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=111&t=131515 > Isn't Chrome using Qt tho? No. And as mentioned, Qt (vlc) still *is* broken itr. It by this patch just got the *option* to not act brokenly. Every client needs to opt into that. (But that's not been different with Qt4, just no additional Qt API was required then and kdelibs fixed it for most KDE applications implicitly) > I have another issue which may be related, but the two are spanning across > different time frames so it doesn't seem likely. This issue is shutdown > being halt with "A stop job is running for session c2 of user" with a 1:30 Seems a systemd bug, see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70593 or https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70593 It might be related to firefox session management, you could try whether you also get this problems when quitting all applications (ensure there're no stale processes left!) before exitting the session and then (if it's now gone) see whether adding some process back at the session end (ie. leave dolphin running, try shutdown; then leave firefox for the next shutdown) causes this. The process may not quit on sigterm.

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK
Thanks, Yuan Chao. Let me try so summarize then: There is an issue with fontconfig, so it by default picks "Demilight" over "Regular" (bug #1556457). We have tried to work around this problem in 69-language-selector-zh-??.conf and 64-language-selector-prefer.conf (the latter for e.g. an English locale). The workaround is not effective in Firefox, though. I'm out of ideas. Is there anything we can do but waiting for bug #1556457 to be fixed? (Assuming that will address the Firefox issue...) On 2016-03-30 12:30, Yuan Chao wrote: > UMing is second to TakaoPGothic so could be a problem in ja_JP on > serif? (UMing does not have enough glyph coverage in JP) Possibly, but if so it wouldn't be a new problem. Sorry, made an error and created an additional bug instead of attaching the information here. I marked https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1563946 as duplicate. Here the comment: Due to more testing i found out that the problem may not be related to sddm. Switching to gdm3 only worked sometimes. I also found out that detaching one monitor and starting sddm works for me. I can connect the monitor again before loging in and everything is fine. If i switch to gdm3 i not only need to stop/start the service. I also need to do a dpkg-reconfigure sddm and switch between sddm and gdm3 in order to have it working. [Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK
> May I ask: Is "Regular" picked up first with a ja_JP or zh_TW > locale? Yes, (only tested with live env) according to fc-match "Regular" is picked up over "DemiLight" in both zh_TW and zh_CN. TakaoPGothic is the default for ja_JP. However, for Firefox, this hack in /etc/fonts/conf.d/69-language- selector-zh-??.conf doesn't seem to work. According to the inspection tool of Firefox, "AR PL UMing CN/TW", "Noto Sans CJK SC/TC Bold" and "DemiLight" are picked up. UMing is second to TakaoPGothic so could be a problem in ja_JP on serif?
