Yes, I've tried 2 times. Following this, the system wasn't bootable but it might have been for other reasons. Did you identify something in the logs ? [Bug 1993027] Re: Display settings lost when leaving screen saver / screen switch
I think the limitation would be okay if the system provided a way to adjust the display properties. But there is no brightness/contrast setting, at least not in the Kubuntu system settings. If there is actually a hidden config variable somewhere, I'd be happy to set that. That is, I use xrandr because I don't have ability to control the screen brightness in the GUI provided settings. Note, this also applies to the settings set by nvidia-settings. So there was an expectation in the past the settings would not be changed elsewhere.
