[Bug 47649] Re: Landscape PDF printed as portrait (and truncated)

2007-05-23 Thread Daniel Frein
For some reasons the unsupported KPDF 3.5.7 packages for edgy
(http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-357.php) are build without the
controversal poppler patch (which removes kpdf's internal xpdf copy and
seems to be the reason for this bug). This means that landscape printing
works again with this package (at least for me). And duplex printing
(bug 54154) also seems to work.

[Bug 44787] knoda package should recommend some database backends

2006-05-15 Thread Daniel Frein
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knoda

the knoda package 0.8.0-0ubuntu2 depends on libhk-classes-mysql |
libhk-classes-driver (where the latter is a virtual package provided by
any libhk database backend), which results in installation of only the
mysql backend. For the user it looks if knoda can only handle mysql
databases. Therefore, it would be better if knoda would at least
recommend some or all backends libhk-classes-* to make its
installation easier.

[Bug 39419] Re: korganizer krashes when creating event

2006-05-05 Thread Daniel Frein
This seems to be fixed upstream in KDE, it would be nice if the patch
from Till Adam would be included into dapper:

[Bug 43065] kdesktop freezes often during RMB actions (dapper)

2006-05-05 Thread Daniel Frein
Public bug reported:

Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: kdesktop

During right mouse button clicks on icons on the desktop, kdesktop freezes
nearly every day. This seems to be a regression bug of KDE-3.5.2. A '-9' signal
is necessary to kill kdesktop. This is extremely annoying since switching to an
other task and back to the desktop then results in capturing all of keyboard
input and only the mouse is working. In this case, ksysguard seems the only
alternative to kill kdesktop without requiring keyboard input. This bug is not
exactely reproducible and produces no backtrace but is extremely annoying
especially for novice users since without the knowledge how to kill kdesktop, a
logout from KDE can't be avoided.
I'm not sure if this could be a timing issue between the pop-up if the mouse
pointer rests on the icon or is related to newly created icons on the desktop.
However, this bug also hit me with 'older' icons.

This bug is also reported upstream:

[Bug 23817] KMix, select channel for tray slider doens't restore proper setting

2006-03-17 Thread Daniel Frein
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/23817

Comment:
this is especially annoying since kmix seems to choose by default the
first mixer channel, which is Bass at my first soundcard (pointless to
say that this is stupid).

Additionally kmix does not respect alsa settings, I have an .alsarc
which sets another soundcard as default, but kmix always uses hw:0,0
instead of the new default. But it remembers the master mixer I chose.

In $HOME/.kde/.share/config/kmixrc something like
MasterMixer=ALSA::VIA_8235:1
MasterMixerDevice=0
sets the default mixer, and in fact kmix uses the value in MasterMixerDevice,
but doesn't change the controlled soundcard to the one specified in
MasterMixer. At least one is able to set the default mixer of the first
soundcard.

There are a lot of files named like kmixrc6ZPaia.new in
$HOME/.kde/share/config/, this looks to me that if KDE restores a
session during login, some of these config files is used instead of the
main one (but I may be wrong). Perhaps something with the session
management of kmix is also broken. Since I prefer to start kmix via
$HOME/.kde/Autostart, kmix will use the main config file.
