[Bug 42013] Re: [kubuntu dapper] Cannot enable administrator mode in Users&Groups administration

2006-04-29 Thread Luka Renko
Can you provide output of the following command:

  ls -l /etc/shadow

On my system it reports:
  -rw-r- 1 root shadow 850 2006-04-29 20:44 /etc/shadow

There was a bug that changed group ownership from "shadow" (as above) to
"root". Maybe you are hit by this.
In such case, running "sudo chgrp shadow /etc/shadow" may fix the problem.

2006-04-29 Thread Luka Renko
I think I understand it now - knetworkconf does not call Ubuntu scripts
directly and therefore dhclient is not called as it probably assumes that dhcp
is daemon running all the time.
I will check how to address this properly.

[Bug 37210] Re: Network unavailable on boot

2006-04-28 Thread Luka Renko
Mattziu: you problem is duplicate of bug 18069 which will get in official repo
probably tommorow. You will still need to remove problematic line manually from
/etc/network/interfaces.

sunwave: are you using kcontrol or System Settings (from K-menu)? I have tried
hard and could not reproduce your problem with gateway with last version. Do
you have up-to-date Dapper? Did you add gateway on Routes tab (and set
interface correctly) or in Advanced Options of interface configuration dialog?

Steph: can you still reproduce this problem with up-to-date Dapper? Can you
attach your /etc/network/interfaces?

knetworkconf has written partial line in /etc/network/interfaces if you
had an interface manually configured or managed by network-manager. This
is now respected and such interfaces are not written to

[Bug 37072] Re: After installing (and enabling) of nvidia-glx, KDM makes wrong DRI guesses

2006-04-25 Thread Luka Renko
If your X server driver does not set DPI properly, this is due to the fact that
it cannot autodetect your display size.
You can help him with setting DisplaySize in Monitor section as mentioned in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AchimBohnet

You should also note that kde-guidance has currenly bug 40683, which prevents
setting font DPI to proper size during login. See that bug report for how to
workaround the bug until proper fix is released.

[Bug 41151] successful-ok error reported when printer list is retrieved

2006-04-24 Thread Luka Renko
Public bug reported:

Affects: kdebase kdeprint (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Kubuntu Dapper up-to-date.

With recent cups/kdebase updates, printing seems to work, but I get this
dialog:

An error occurred while retrieving the printer list. Error message received
from manager:
successful-ok

Screenshot: http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1713/kdepring9ym.png

This error is reported if I open Printers module in System Settings or whenever
I want to print just before print dialog of KDE application is opened (Kontact,
Kate...).
Firefox does not have this issue, therefore I suspect it is the issue with
kdeprint system
