[Bug 1646036] Re: Drop obsolete pm-utils from Ubuntu

2016-11-30 Thread Martin Pitt
.. but powernap actually uses pm-utils commands all over the place, so
this would need to be ported properly to either "systemctl suspend" and
friends (preferred) or directly talk to /sys/power/state (but this would
prevent userspace inhibitors to work).

[Bug 1625756] Re: [FFe] KDE Applications into the Yakkety archive (including KDEpim)

2016-09-21 Thread Martin Pitt
There is no sensible review that the release team can do on this massive
list of packages and major updates. Most of them are leaf packages, so
it seems reasonably safe to update them one by one as long as they get
tested.

Less sure about central libraries like kde4libs, kderuntime, kdepim,
kde-l10n, etc -- these affect large parts of the desktop, thus need
deeper testing. From my experience, every major KDE update causes a
bunch of test regressions which need to be actually looked at, otherwise
these packages get stuck in -proposed for weeks again. If you can commit
to that, fine (and I'd like to reserve the right to remove those from
-proposed which do cause regressions and are stuck for more than two
weeks).

Other than these remarks, I consider the Kubuntu team self-sustained in
this regard -- if https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-dev/+members want to do
this update, go ahead.

[Bug 1569674] Re: [Kubuntu] Fail to connect to wifi after a recent update

2016-05-12 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Avishay, or anyone else affected,

Accepted networkmanager-qt into xenial-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/networkmanager-qt/5.18.0-0ubuntu1.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

2016-04-13 Thread Martin Pitt
The changes in 1.11 look fine too, but let's not package a beta release
so close to xenial's release. If there's an 1.11 final in time and
someone wants to package and test this right away rather than doing 1.10
first, that's fine.

2016-03-04 Thread Martin Pitt
Setting to incomplete until someone familiar with cmake can investigate
whether this is desirable at this point and how much of the delta we
still need. Please also note that merely building cmake itself is by far
not sufficient -- there needs to be some test builds of sources that use
cmake with the new version.

2015-03-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Could be in ubiquity or sddm, picking one for now until we know what's
up here.

When we used upstart it skipped over ubiquity-dm

what does that mean? Does it disable that job somehow? ubiquity-dm is
for the install without live session mode, it shouldn't be involved in
the live session at all.

Either way, need to download a Kubuntu and look into this properly.

I checked sugar-0.98, and the only usage seems to be in
./extensions/deviceicon/battery.py which only reads battery properties.
This looks fine for upower 0.99.

razorqt also has a SystemdProvider class which can do the suspend/resume

[Bug 1323274] Re: Restore Debian's init.d script for insserv compatibility

2014-05-26 Thread Martin Pitt
** Description changed:

We want/need to follow Debian's migration from static rc?.d/ priorities
to dynamic insserv priorities. See https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
  core-dev/ubuntu/utopic/sysvinit/unreviewed/+merge/21 for details.

This is a tracking bug for all Ubuntu init.d scripts that have LSB
header dependencies to init.d scripts which are in Debian, but not in
  Ubuntu. E. g.

  /etc/init.d/mpd:# Should-Start: autofs $network $named alsa-utils
  pulseaudio avahi-daemon

But there is no /etc/init.d/alsa-utils in the Ubuntu package.

  - greylistd is a false positive (changed recently)
  - cman (src:redhat-cluster) does not exist at all in Ubuntu, so we need to
drop/fix its init.d dependencies.
+ - chef-server script comes from chef-server-api which is stuck in -proposed
due to uninstallability

[Bug 1274430] [NEW] Regression in 2.8.12.1-1ubuntu3/4: export CXX stopped working

2014-01-30 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

While debugging the platform-api sensor failure in
https://code.launchpad.net/~thomas-voss/platform-
api/expose_accuracy_and_service_status_to_platform/+merge/203298 I
noticed that the crucial difference was that in that MP platform-api
suddenly got built with g++4.8 although debian/rules says

  export CXX=g++-4.7

(Likewise with CC=gcc-4.7, but platform-api doesn't use that).

It seems the recent cmake changes broke this. Surprisingly, this still
works as intended:

  mkdir obj
  cd obj
  CXX=g++-4.7 cmake ..

but not in the way dh_auto_* handle that.

[Bug 1201180] Re: Pressing power button turns off the PC ignoring the presence of another session manager

2013-10-09 Thread Martin Pitt
It seems gnome-session got fixed for this now. When I press the power
button, I now get the usual dialog that asks you what to do
(shutdown/reboot/etc.)

I'll add a task for kde-workspace as apparently it's still not working
under KDE. I. e. the KDE session needs to inhibit logind's power button
handling if it wants to handle the power button itself, similar to what
gnome-session is doing in gsm_systemd_add_inhibitor()

That would be a good first step, as this affects all distributions.
KDE might want to add support for XF86Suspend.

Thanks!

[Bug 1167869] Re: [keymap] Dell Latitude D830: hibernate key

2013-05-22 Thread Martin Pitt
The udev keymaps are correct. As I said, on the kernel level there is
only KEY_SLEEP (suspend to RAM) and KEY_SUSPEND (suspend to disk, aka
hibernate).

On the X.org level, /usr/share/X11/xkb/keycodes/evdev assigns I150 to
KEY_SLEEP and I213 to KEY_SUSPEND. /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/inet
then maps I150 to XF86Sleep and I213 to XF86Suspend, mirroring the
evdev naming. There is also an entry

  key I255 { [ XF86Hibernate ] }; //
KEY_HIBERNATE

But this isn't defined in /usr/share/X11/xkb/keycodes/evdev. Per the
evdev code + 8 mapping, this would correspond to KEY_RFKILL and thus
be wrong.

So there are two things which can happen here:

  * Change the xkb mapping of I213 to XF86Hibernate. This seems to be
what KDE expects, and GNOME gets along with it as well (it handles both
XF86Hibernate and XF86Suspend).

  * Change KDE to accept XF86Suspend for hibernation as well, in
addition to XF86Hibernate (which is never emitted right now).
