Did you `apt update; apt install --reinstall ubiquity` to get the latest
version, before launching the installer?

[Bug 1697208] [NEW] Installing karbon also installs calligrawords, calligrastage, and calligrasheets

2017-06-10 Thread PJSingh5000
Public bug reported:

I installed karbon, and calligrawords, calligrastage, and calligrasheets
were also installed.

All of these packages require calligra-libs as a dependency.

However, calligra-libs lists calligrawords, calligrastage, and
calligrasheets as dependencies.

This seems odd that the library (calligra-libs) depends on the
applications (calligrawords, calligrastage, and calligrasheets)?

Please check if this is an oversight in setting up the dependencies for
the deb package, or if these applications are actually needed by karbon
(and/or calligra-libs).

[Bug 921555] Re: Plasma panel and menu don't follow font hinting

2013-07-10 Thread PJSingh5000
If you zoom into the images in the attachments (#31, 32, #33) it looks
like Plasma is using *grayscale* anti-aliased fonts. On my LCD monitor,
RGB sub-pixel anti-aliased fonts look better, and zooming into these
fonts in the attached images, you will see slight color fringes on the
characters).

In System Settings, I have enabled Use sub-pixel rendering. I have
selected RGB from the drop down. I have selected Hint style Full
from the drop down. And I have de-selected Exclude range.

Additionally, under Desktop Effects | Advanced, I have selected Native
from the drop down as the QT graphics system. I am using an Intel
graphics chip.

Nevertheless, the Plasma widgets seem to ignore my sub-pixel rendering
selection in System Settings.

[Bug 921555] Re: Plasma panel and menu don't follow font hinting

2013-06-21 Thread PJSingh5000
I am trying out Kubuntu 13.04 x64 (KDE 4.10.3) and the issue is still
present.

(This bug has been around for a while; I had actually switched away from
KDE in 2011 because of it!!!)

I tried restarting Kwin per comment #27, and that seems to at least pick
up my selected font style when displaying the minimized windows in the
taskbar and Kicker. However, the fonts in Kicker still seem
pixlilated and choppy even though the fonts in applications
(Konqueror, Kate, Konsole, etc.) are correctly applying the full font
hinting, as I have selected.

Does anyone know the actuall process that is used to render fonts in
Plasma widgets? If comment #24 is accurate, and fonts are indeed
rendered as images 1st, then this bug may be a clallenge to resolve: it
would entail changing the basic plasma framework.

Any thoughts? I'd really like to resolve this years old bug.

[Bug 69085] Re: System Settings changes configuration files .fonts.conf and .fonts/ even without me applying any changes

2008-05-17 Thread PJSingh5000
I am experiencing this problem in Hardy. The systemsettings | Appearance
option creates a local ~/.fonts.conf file. The settings in this file do not
correspond to the options I select when I execute:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config --force
   Select:
Font tuning method for screen: Autohinter
Enable subpixel rendering for screen: Automatic
Enable bitmapped fonts by default? No
As a result the fonts revert to a fuzzy appearance. To correct this, I have to
manually delete the local ~/.fonts.conf each time I access the Appearance
option from systemsettings.
