5.15.7 as a whole cannot be pushed to stable releases as an update. The
break in private ABI that even a Qt point release involves prevents
that. The way ahead there would be to track down the upstream patch/fix
that happened in 5.15.7 and apply that as a patch to the current Qt.

5.15.7 will very likely land in Lunar Lobster dev release at some point
this dev cycle. Some work has started in Ubuntu/Debian, but it may be
slower than normal as the main maintainer is not available to work much
on it at the moment.

[Bug 1997479] [NEW] KRDC needs Qt 5.15.7 to fix KRDC bugs

2022-11-22 Thread m...@papersolve.com
Public bug reported:

KRDC has all sorts of weird issues with blank/blue screens after
connecting to a computer or going full-screen, etc. see

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/krdc/+bug/1993788
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460089

Issue did not occur on Ubuntu 22.04, only started happening on 22.10.
Others reported they could not reproduce on Arch which uses Qt 5.15.7,
but could reproduce on Ubuntu 22.10. I compiled Qt 5.15.7 and verified
this fixes KRDC (see second URL above); so creating this ticket to
hopefully help push along Qt 5.15.7 into Ubuntu main repositories.
