I got to this issue on Ubuntu 12.04.5 amd64 host and Ubuntu 15.04 beta2
guest.

What I did:
1. I downloaded official Ubuntu 15.04 beta2 iso (MD5SUM 
e838edda85712d283bd94b34dbb5d6ec)
2. launched usb-creator-gtk for creation of LiveUSB, selected ISO and target 
USB-flash, pressed Make Startup Disk
3. LiveUSB was created (Installation Complete window)
4. Pressed Test Disk
5. Got error message in QEMU window (gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R image)

If I enter manually live I get into other issue with VGA adapter (
The system is running in low-graphic mode see bug 1437740 ).

So usb-creator-gtk from Ubuntu 12.04.5 Precise Pangolin produces Vivid
Vervet image that is unusable in QEMU/KVM.

Please fix this bug in all LTS versions of Ubuntu - 12.04 and 14.04.

1. Install Muon on 16.04 LTS and launch it 
2. Click "Check for updates"
3. Wait for "Rebuilding Search Index" to finish
4. After some time open Muon again (without 'apt-get update', 'aptitude 
update').
5. Get 'Rebuilding search index' message with background process 
/usr/sbin/update-apt-xapian-index and high CPU load and high temperature as the 
result.

Expected results:
Muon runs update-apt-xapian-index only when it's really needed. Muon allows 
user to search packages instantly after launch.

Actual results:
Muon rebuilds search index very often and inefficient. Muon does not allow user 
to search packages instantly after launch.

Note:
This bug is very similar to the Synaptic one (see 
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685376).
It is caused by problems in apt-xapian-index (mainly

Its unbelievable - I opened Muon, tried to make search, then it Rebuilt index, 
I can't make new search query.
I closed Muon, entered failed (second) query. It shown results. But Rebuilding 
Search Index again.

Synaptic is broken, Muon is buggy. Sometimes I do not want to use
aptitude/apt/apt-cache and other TUI. GNOME/Ubuntu-software is slow.

Where should I write to help fixing this bug in Muon / apt-xapian-index?

I have already disabled systemd timers for APT and removed unnattended-
upgrades package.

So before running Muon I have the following dates:

FYI the bug may be temporarily fixed on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (with HWE),
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (and Mint 19) using packages from my PPA (

ppa:nrbrtx/xorg-hotkeys " ). It contains patched Xorg (with patch from
kyak - https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xorg-server-bug865/ ). Thank
you very much again, kyak!

And it is unbelievable that we need to patch core graphical system
component by ourselves to use traditional keyboard shortcuts ...

But the modern 5.5-1 version from the newest image do not provide the 
`/bin/tempfile` executable, so it is missed. It is actually bug 1951742 .

So the temporary fix is the following:

1. Launch ISO (tested on Ubuntu MATE 20211120)
2. Start it in Try… mode
3. Launch Ubiquity installer
4. Wait for appearing of "Who are you?" page
5. Open terminal with ++ to download previous version of 
`debianutils` and copy /bin/tempfile to /target/usr/bin directory by

wget 
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/d/debianutils/debianutils_4.11.2_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install --allow-downgrades -y ./debianutils_4.11.2_amd64.deb
sudo mkdir -p /target/usr/bin
sudo cp -v /bin/tempfile /target/usr/bin/

6. Return to Ubiquity window and finish the installation.
7. Enjoy installed system.

As for today (2029) the following flavors are affected by the current bug:
* Kylin
* Budgie
* Kubuntu
* MATE
* Xubuntu

All they are crashed on 1300 install because of "plugininstall.py:
ubiquity.install_misc.InstallStepError: AptSetup failed with code 127".

The following, Calamares-based are not affected.
* Lubuntu
* Ubuntu Studio

Surprisingly Ubuntu is not affected, so were installed normally.

By some mistake on the web-server http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/current/jammy-desktop-arm64.iso.zsync is built on 2021-11-05, and
not on 2021-11-19. This is not my mistake.

Manually downloaded Ubuntu 2029 and got crash.
