Hi,

if you are going to do it, do it quick, RC2 should already be released and
RC3 might already become the release version, so there is only one week for
all lang-teams to localize.

[libreoffice-l10n] Will you accept a new additional string for 5.3 language listbox?

2017-01-16 Thread Eike Rathke
Hi,

To solve https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104950
I added locale data for English in Malaysia [en-MY], which currently in
5.3 is displayed as the raw language tag "en-MY" in the language
listbox. I could add the proper display string "English (Malaysia)" to
svtools/source/misc/langtab.src StringArray STR_ARR_SVT_LANGUAGE_TABLE
if translators don't object.

Opinions?

For the menu entry to appear in navigator's context-menu, you have to
first protect cells.
In Menu, it should appear anyway (but in deactivated mode when there
are no protected cells in the selection)

This is not true since master project was created in pootle. This was
intruduced exact for this reason, to prevent a big string dump.

It definitely is, but that is not because you get new strings, but
rather that you still have old projects untranslated.

Again: this won't help with the new strings you get, as obviously
those have been changed/newly introduced.
It might come in helpful for projects having to catch up/not focusing
on master but translating the old projects in parallel.

Again wrong, "templates" is a project in pootle just like the actual
languages. You can get the pot from pootle the same way as you get
your po files.

> The script is attached (I hope we can attach stuff here).

Nope, list strips attachments.

But please double-check whether the script actually works for your
language/did what you expected it to do. Admins won't like to revert
your broken uploads ;-)

Also please double-check that you keep the correct directory hierarchy
when reuploading/don't upload those files as new files into the wrong
directory.

Again no idea how that tool works, as the attachment was stripped, but
if a string is removed, it is not deleted from the po file completely,
but marked as obsolete (lines starting with #~) - so if you had it
translated before, but is now gone, you'll find it in the obsolete
sections.

> 3. Upload to pootle: zip the odir directory and upload to Pootle

See note above: please make sure to use the proper directory
layout/don't introduce additional subdirectories and the like.

This is suboptimal choice, as / might appear in regular translation.
I'd rather make the output a proper array of separate strings for the
alternative translations.

Indeed I already did. Well actually only for UI, since when checking

Even in UI there only were a handful of strings that did match/were

Why do people still "refuse" to provide the link to the unit...
e.g.
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/pl/libo_help/translate/shared/01.po#unit=117826128

While true, not having this in the translation string would mean
tearing apart the string or introducing an embed just for this. Both
would make it harder to get the context I think.

I think it is clear from the context that you should not translate a
commandline switch

[libreoffice-l10n] Description in Unit #117795332 for protection in Navigator question

2017-01-16 Thread Thomas Hackert
Hello @ll,
while trying to translate
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/de/libo_help/translate/swriter/guide.po#unit=117795332

into German, I seem to have found a misleading description ... :(

The above mentioned segment reads

For whole table, right-click on the table in the Navigator, and
choose Table - Unprotect in the context
menu.Or select the whole table and
choose Tools - Unprotect Cells in menu bar.

But also switching LO's UI language to English does not show this
menu entry ... :( There are only "Edit...", "Delete" and "Rename".
Is this a missing feature or a help text for an older LO version?

Tested with
OS: Debian Testing AMD64
LO: Version: 5.2.4.2.1+
Build-ID: 1:5.2.4-2
CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.5; UI-Render: Standard; VCL:
gtk3;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group
(Debian's own version)

but also with

LO: Version: 5.3.0.1
Build ID: 3b800451b1d0c48045de03b5b3c7bbbac87f20d9
CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.5; UI Render: default; VCL:
gtk2; Layout Engine: new;
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group
(parallel installed, following the instructions from
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel/Linux)

I hope, someone can give some insight to my question ... ;)
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.
