[libreoffice-l10n] Handling of auto correct replacement options

[libreoffice-l10n] WhatsNew dialog on first start of a new version
If we publish a new version we inform the user via infobar and ask to read the release notes. Besides the issue of stacked infobars, this information and the presentation is not really suited for end users. On the other hand, we always prepare awesome best-of videos, yet not everyone follows us on social media. The idea is to simply show a dialog with a few images combined with a short text, arranged in a carousel with next/previous buttons. The challenges are a) we have to prepare this shortly before a new version goes into feature freeze b) the localization of some strings can not start earlier c) the images occupy a couple of bytes locally but are not used after the first presentation If you dislike the idea, please comment on https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159573 -- Dr. Heiko Tietze, UX-Designer and UX-Mentor Tel: +49 30 5557992-63 | Mail: heiko.tie...@documentfoundation.org The Document Foundation, Winterfeldtstraße 52, 10781 Berlin, DE Gemeinnützige rechtsfähige Stiftung des bürgerlichen Rechts Legal details: https://www.documentfoundation.org/imprint -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy

But I wonder if "DnD+Shift" is the correct description? DnD is a description of a technique, not of the actual process. Wouldn't "drag+Shift" suffice? That would make it shorter in all languages ... Chapter: Paragraph with a first level outline like 1. or 2. Heading: Paragraph with any outline level like 1.1 or 2.1 Remember that all headings are just paragraphs, and you make it visually appearing as heading (plus being part of the ToC and listed in the Navigator, etc) by changing the outline level from None (or Text Body so far, see bug 153735) to level 1..10. [libreoffice-l10n] Survey translation
Hello translators, the design team wants to run a poll about new application icons. These icons affect the branding and we want to ask the TDF members to decide. The patch to remove the EN/EM DASHES from the replacement table is here https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/117585 It affects --, ---, :--:, and :---:. As well as - for NL. The option replace dashed still works depending on language and kind of content with EN/EM. NL and NL_BE replace a single dash by EN DASH. The "option" replacement is done via SvxAutoCorrect::DoAutoCorrect() at IsAutoCorrFlag(ACFlags::ChgToEnEmDash) and SvxAutoCorrect::FnChgToEnEmDash(), which is a rather complex function. Now I'd vote for removing the option from the replacement table as this is in my skills but I'm afraid of the triple dash thing / EM dash. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Localizing "Community Edition" branding in LO71
The brand string is part of the images. Could be done for the SVG, in theory, but not in case of the splash screen, which is and has to be raster graphics (PNG). Well, nothing is impossible in informatics but the effort should be balanced. But moreover it makes not much sense to translate brand names in general. "Gemeinschaftsversion" in German sounds totally weird. We had an eye on l10n while choosing the name so the term is kind of inter lingua, hopefully. What do you mean with "untranslatable"? Seems to be ordinary UNO commands, introduced with [1] for the nested table. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Character in LibreOffce UI Master
It was done in [1] based on the guideline [2]. With LibreOffice it would be easy to insert this character per special characters dialog, in Weblate you probably have to use the Unicode ID U+25B8. But copy/paste seems to be easier. I wonder why this patch has made it into 6.4. Tried to cherry-pick but failed because of a merge issue (and it was a bit late too). The patch also fixes the Ctrl/Cmd and Alt/Option thing by using the variables %MOD1 and %MOD2.
