Hi Abhimanyu,
May I suggest that you open up the folders + test docs and send me the
link, so that both of us can work on the text together.
Thanks.

Hello Ranjan, Abhimanyu,
you both contacted us with the same request recently, i.e., translating
our website into Hindi, which means updating http://www.openoffice.org/hi/

Translation is not particularly complex but you will need to edit 30 or
so text files, that you can also split between the two of you. Please
take a look at our guide
http://openoffice.apache.org/website-native.html and come back to us
when you are ready to start. We'll create the test-hi package for you
and send it to you for offline translation.

If you don't want to miss announcements you should subscribe to this
mailing list: send an empty e-mail message to
l10n-subscr...@openoffice.apache.org and respond to the confirmation
request you will receive.

It's not particularly difficult install the Linux builds, but unfortunately
all the current builds are useless for you, since they do not contain your
updates, only the partial, old translations.

 See here:
 http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/trunk/extras/l10n/source/ and compare
hi to other languages. Hindi has not been copied from Pootle yet (last
copy: 13 months ago), since Juergen couldn't export it due to a glitch with
the new 2.5.1 version. Now, as discussed in
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-7160 we may have a workaround
 available.

But chances are that the copy will not be done before the next time the
weekly buildbot runs (January 13). So it will be for the following week (or
we can maybe force a buildbot run as soon as Hindi is copied, but the copy
needs to be the first step).

In the meantime, you can still edit Hindi in Pootle if needed.

 Regards,
Andrea.

Good. This happens in two steps:

 1) Someone (this is usually Juergen) imports your work from Pootle into
the source code. This task will be tracked for Hindi in
 https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123968 and you should post
a comment there (you will need to register, same page) saying that
translations are ready to be imported. You will get an e-mail when the
 import is complete.

 2) Hindi (hi) is added to the snapshot we build weekly, on
 Sunday/Monday: http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/#winsnap

I would also like to know, what are the test parameters which needs
to be checked and how to rectify/modify them.

We don't have a formal procedure for that. You simply download and
install the snapshot build and verify that all menus are displaying
 correctly.

I would like to have hindi version available by makar sankranti (14th
 Jan).

If step 1 is done next week and the snapshot is successful, your build
should be ready on Monday 13th January.

I have still problems with Pootle and can't guarantee that I will be
able to snyc the files back into the sources in time.

Sorry for that but I will do it as soon as possible
